  4. Business Name Generator
  5. NGenerators

  7. VloggingHero
  8. Generator Mix
  9. Name Generator
  10. Cool Generator
  11. Generator Land
  12. Nickfinder

  14. Scifiideas Name Generator
  15. Rum and Monkey

Keep reading for links to each of these name generators as well as for more information on what each of these name generators have to offer.

1. SpinXO

Pros

  • Lots of fields on the generator so the name will be relevant to you (nickname, important words, etc.)
  • One of the most robust generators
  • Spin as many times as you want
  • Spins have a lot of options, so there’s a huge variety to choose from

Cons

  • Only one or two quality names per spin
  • No category of names, like alien names, fantasy names, etc.

Functions

  • Enter keywords that you want to appear in the name
  • Have rhyming names or exact words
  • Check whether the username is taken across many platforms and domains

Overview

SpinXO is the best name generator for Twitch because of its keyword form at the top. This lets you enter everything from your nickname, to what you like, to important words.

When I entered my details in these boxes, I assumed every generated name would be very formulaic, but they were actually surprisingly unique and eye-catching.

I really like how customizable spinXO is, which is why it made the top of the list. It can generate names that rhyme like BigFig and CasinoTorino, or it can use the exact words you put in.

If you have an inkling of what you want your name to look like, SpinXO can spin up plenty of great options – all for free!

2. Jimpix

Pros

  • Simple and easy to use
  • Lots of options like length, starting letters, etc.
  • Usernames are all quirky and fun

Cons

  • Fairly simple – just adds your word to subjects in the category

Functions

  • Generates names based on a keyword, and other categories like starting letter, length, etc.
  • Checks whether the username is taken across many platforms and domains

Overview

Jimpix is just a little less sophisticated than SpinXO, but in my opinion this creates way unique names. For example, I can tell it that I want “Gamer” to be in the username, and I want it to incorporate the category of food.

This gives me some pretty fun names like “Gamerdill” and “Crepegamer”. You can’t be as specific with your names as you can with SpinXO, but sometimes simplicity is better, so Jimpix may be perfect for you and your Twitch Channel’s brand!

3. Welder’s Twitch Name Generator

Welder’s Twitch Name Generator

Pros

  • Extremely unique and diverse names
  • Long list of names
  • Has you describe your channel, which is easier than thinking of good key words

Cons

  • Cannot specify parameters of names (no keywords, etc.)
  • Some names repeat so the list is smaller than it appears

Functions

  • Uses Ai to generate channel names based off of channel description

Welder’s is one of the best Twitch name generators on the web, and it’s definitely the most fun to use. Welder’s quite literally has you describe your channel and then generates a list of awesome names based off of your description.

You can say something simple like “I play League of Legends and rage” to get back some crazy names. Or you can be very specific and say “I play League of Legends, rage at my Jungler every game when they don’t gank, and then play with my viewers after”, if you want really specific names.

You can’t specify keywords, but you can include them in your description and they’ll likely show up.

4. Business Name Generator

Pros

  • Extremely customizable (word length, industry, keywords)
  • Checks Domains
  • Generates a huge list of names

Cons

  • May have to modify some names to make them more Twitch-like and less business-like
  • Can’t enter your own industries

Functions

  • Generates a list of names based on keyword and industries
  • Has rhyming option
  • Set character count and one word options
  • Domain checking

Business Name Generator, of course, is for businesses – but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it for Twitch. Actually, I find it to be one of the best Twitch name generators out there, which is why it made the top of this list.

It still comes in below SpinXO and Jimpix because those two are specifically for usernames, but you can come up with some pretty cool names with Business Name Generator.

For example, you can set the keyword to your channel theme, let’s say “Zarya” and then choose a few Industries, like “Gaming” and “Fitness”. This generates a huge list of names like “Zarya Zoom”, “Zarya Zing”, etc.

Sometimes you have to play with the names a bit to make them fun, but overall Business Name Generator is a great Twitch name generator even if not created specifically for Twitch.

5. NGenerators

Pros

  • Lots of features available for customization
  • Returns a few different names to choose from

Cons

  • Some names don’t make a lot of sense
  • Site is not easy to navigate / UI not very clean

Functions

  • Length customization
  • Can choose food, animals, etc. to mix in
  • Gender names
  • Keywords

NGenerators is comparable to SpinXO, but the reason SpinXO is at the top, and this is further down, mainly comes down to each generator’s UI.

I just find that SpinXO is easier to use and that its names are a little better and less “on the nose” when it comes to the keywords and categories.

With that being said, if you’re finding that SpinXO isn’t giving you what you want but you like the features it has (choosing different categories and parameters for your name), then give NGEnerator’s Gamertag generator a try. It will give you a long list of awesome Twitch names for your channel.

6. Fantasy Name Generator

Pros

  • Very popular and well maintained
  • Lots of different categories to choose from (most of any generator)
  • Names sound like real names

Cons

  • Can’t define keywords
  • Sometimes “real” sounding names aren’t best for Twitch channels
  • Mostly fantasy and sci-fi / pop culture based names

Functions

  • Choose from one of 100+ categories and generate many names for it
  • Filter male, female, and neutral names

Fantasy Name Generator has been saving DMs and GMs for many years at this point, and there’s a good reason.

Fantasy Name Generator can generate awesome names based on anything from Fantasy to Aliens to Minecraft to Megaman.

It has the most categories of any option on this list, which is fantastic if you want your name to belong to one of these categories. If you don’t see a category that suits your name, then I recommend Jimpix or SpinXO.

Fantasy Name Generator’s names sound more like character names, while the above generators generate names that sound more like channel names.

7. VloggingHero

Pros

  • Most simple name generator with no biases at all
  • Generated names are good and suitable for Twitch channels
  • Specifically made for Twitch name generation
  • Names generate instantly

Cons

  • Names are completely random – no parameters at all
  • Only generates one name

Functions

  • Generates a completely random Twitch / Youtube name

This generator is similar to Fantasy Name Generator, in a way, because the names are pretty much completely random.

The difference is that Fantasy Name Generator lets you choose a category, which will impact the name. VloggingHero’s Twitch name generator has no categories, keywords, or anything like that.

It’s not all bad, though, because the names generated by VloggingHero are actually more Twitch-like than those of Fantasy Name Generator.

The only reason that this comes below Fantasy Name Generator, is that it only generates one name, and you sort of just have to hope that no one else already has that name!

8. Generator Mix

Pros

  • Lets you use a keyword
  • Simple to use
  • Set the number of names to be generated
  • Many categories beyond Twitch which can be used for Twitch name generation

Cons

  • Not many customization options

Functions

  • Generate names from a single keyword
  • Set numbers to true or false
  • Set underscores to true or false
  • Set number of names generated

The reason that Generator Mix comes below VloggingHero, despite letting you put in a keyword and generating more names is because if you want something that’s more complex – you should definitely go with SpinXO, Jimpix, or the Ai tool that Welder’s built.

If you don’t want something that complex, go with VloggingHero and cross your fingers.

Generator Mix falls firmly in the complex, yet simple category. You can enter a keyword and a bunch of names will be generated from it.

The names are alright, and I’d say if none of the above options give you what you want, then definitely take a look at Generator Mix. It’s well made and it gets the job done.

9. Name Generator (Gaming)

Pros

  • Lots of customizable fields to make unique and personal names
  • Random options for each fields
  • Many categories to choose from beyond just gaming
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Some names are quite cheesy
  • Seems like some fields aren’t even factored into name generation

Functions

  • Choose category
  • Names, adjectives, nationalities, etc all factored into name generation
  • Generates a long list of names

Name Generator is decent. It is similar to SpinXO, however I find SpinXO does a little better of a job of incorporating the keywords into the names.

Name Generator has some diamonds in the rough, but most of the names just aren’t very good (or they’re names that would’ve been good back in 2007.)

However, those diamonds really are great names, so I’d definitely recommend checking out Name Generator if the above generators didn’t work out for you.

The names are unique, and there are plenty of them to choose from, so you’re almost guaranteed to find something nice.

10. Cool Generator

Pros

  • Easy to use and a ton of categories to choose from

Cons

  • Basic name generation based off one keyword – names are all very predictable

Functions

  • Keywords
  • Categories
  • Length

Cool Generator is very similar to a lot of options on this list. I put it towards the end of the list because, in the end, it’s very generic.

It has a ton of categories to choose from, but those categories really aren’t great when you just need a Twitch name. Most of the categories will give back actual names, sort of like Fantasy Name Generator.

We need more Twitch-like names, and Business Name Generator does a better job with its categories than Cool Generator does.

However, the Twitch name generator on Cool Generator is decent. It will take your keyword and add random words around it, basically, and sometimes that’s all you need.

It makes this list for its simplicity – there’s no reason to do calculus if you only need to do some addition. If you want a simple name generator, Cool Generator is a great option. If you want more complexity, look towards the top of the list.

11. Generator Land

Pros

  • Lots of user-created generators
  • Many generators to choose from

Cons

  • No keywords or customization
  • Site is hard to navigate and find good generators

Functions

  • Generate names with user-created generators

Generator Land is okay if you have some free time on your hands. A few years ago it would’ve been really great, but there are just a bunch of options that are way easier to use and give a lot more customization (Jimpix and SpinXO, for example.)

The site is annoying to navigate, to say the least, but once you finally find a good generator, you can create some pretty cool names!

All and all, Generator Land isn’t anything special, but it works and it may give you the perfect Twitch name for your channel!

12. Nickfinder

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Lots of categories
  • Key words
  • Symbols can be added to the names

Cons

  • UI is not very clean or easy to look at

Functions

  • Generate names based on categories (boy names, girl names, etc.)
  • Choose first letter(s) / keywords

Nickfinder’s main feature that makes it stand out is its ability to add symbols to the names. This is basically the only generator that has this feature built in.

However, if you want symbols in your name, you have to think about how easy it will be for people to find you and your Twitch channel.

There’s been many times where I’ve went looking for someone on Twitch and couldn’t find them because they used a weird symbol instead of regular letters.

However, if that doesn’t bother you and you want those symbols, then Nickfinder is a great, easy to use name generator that will get the job done.

13. Name Generator Fun

Pros

  • Lots of categories to choose from
  • Bit list of names
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Very ugly website
  • No keywords or options like rhyming / word count / etc.

Functions

  • Generates a long list of names based on categories like “rapper names”, “Sci fi names”, “cool names”, etc.

Name Generator Fun is sort of a mix between Rum and Monkey (coming up) and Business Name Generator.

There are a bunch of categories to choose from and then it will generate a list of names according to that category.

My one huge gripe with this generator, and why it’s so far down here is that you can’t enter any keywords or names.

If you know for a fact that you want your Twitch name to have a certain word in it, then Name Generator Fun is not for you.

On the other hand, if you’re completely clueless, this is a great way to give you some ideas based on one of their categories (and they have a lot of categories!)

14. Scifiideas Name Generator

Pros

  • Really simple, yet generates great SciFi themed names

Cons

  • Only good for SciFi names like Aliens, planets, etc. so if this doesn’t fit your channel’s theme / brand it won’t be very useful

Functions

  • Generate alien names
  • Generate planet names
  • Generate Species names

As I mentioned in the Cons, this is only really going to be good if you want an Alien or SciFi sounding name. However, it’s really good if that’s the kind of name you want.

Some advice – don’t stick to one type of name. If you’re not finding any good alien names for your Twitch channel, check out the planet names because some of them can actually be pretty awesome.

The actual generation is bare bones, similar to Fantasy Name Generator. You can’t choose categories like SpinXO and Jimpix, so if that’s what you’re looking for, make sure to check out one of those generators.

15. Rum and Monkey

Pros

  • Lots of categories to choose from
  • Quizes make the generated names a little more personal

Cons

  • Only generates one name
  • Names are generic and leave you wondering whether the quiz mattered sometimes

Functions

  • Uses a quiz and category to generate a single name

Rum and Monkey is similar to SpinXO, since it has you choose a category and enter your name. One of the main differences is that Rum and Monkey has you take a quiz before generating the name.

The other big difference is that Rum and Monkey only generates a single name while SpinXO will generate a few for you to choose from.

If you want your name to be a little more personal and based off a quiz, Rum and Monkey is great. Just be prepared to take the 8 or so question quiz three or four times before you get a nice name.

If you want something quicker, that generates more names while still using information about you, then go with SpinXO.

Tips For Choosing A Good Twitch Name

  • Don’t use numbers or characters: numbers and characters in a name make it look sloppy. It also makes it harder for people to find you when they search for your name. Try your best to avoid them.
  • Choose a name that people will remember: You want to choose a name that is catchy so that people can more easily remember you and remember your stream.
  • Keep the spelling simple: Names that are difficult to spell will also be difficult for people to search for and remember. Keep the spelling of your Twitch name simple and easily searchable.
  • Choose a name you can use across different platforms: When building a stream you should plan to eventually branch out to other platforms. Make sure the name you choose is available on other platforms you want to use so you don’t confuse your supporters.
  • Avoid inappropriate names: Although edgy names can be funny, edgy names also run the risk of you having your name flagged and being forced to change it. It’s best to play it safe and not choose a name that you will be forced to change later on as this could affect your reputation.
  • Choose a name that fits your brand: It’s important that you choose a name that fits your branding. For example, if you plan on playing a lot of Nintendo games on stream, consider using a Nintendo themed name so people know what to expect.
  • Keep it short and simple: Your name should be short, simple, and easy to say. If your name takes people an entire sentence to say then you should consider making it shorter.

If you are starting a brand new account you are good to go. If you already have a Twitch name and are looking to change it, here is how you would do just that.

How To Change Your Name On Twitch

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right
  2. Click “Settings”
  3. Scroll down to the “Profile Settings”
  4. Click on the pencil next to “Username”
  5. Type your new username then click update

Here are a couple screen shots that help to provide more detail.

Click your profile icon in the top right. Click “Settings”. Scroll down to the “Profile Settings. “Click on the pencil next to “Username”.

Profile Icon > Settings > Username

Type your new username then click update.

How Often Can You Change Your Twitch Name?

You can change your Twitch name once every 60 days. However, you will need to verify your email if you want to change your name. And when you do change your name, your former Twitch name will be held onto by Twitch for at least 6 months after which they may decide to make the name available again.

What Does TTV Mean In A Twitch / Gaming Name?

TTV in a Twitch or Gaming username means “Twitch.TV”. Streamers and gamers will often add these letters at the end of their names as a way to promote their Twitch streams.

Should You Use TTV In Your Twitch / Gaming Name?

Using TTV at the end of a username really makes no difference and is more of a preference. Many small streamers will add TTV at the end of their names when they start streaming, but then later remove that ending once their stream grows. However, this ending alone does not help grow a stream.

Think for yourself, have you ever gone to a person’s stream who had TTV at the end of their username? If you did it was probably just to troll and not really to engage with the streamer.

In some cases TTV or TV may blend nicely with a name, but in most cases adding TTV to the end of a name just looks spammy. There are far better ways to promote your stream I will just say that.
