[5] Best Motherboards For Warzone 2

Warzone 2 is on the harder-to-run side of the gaming spectrum, which means your components need to be up to the task if you want those high framerates.

This means you need a powerful motherboard suitable for such a task, which is why I put together this definitive mobo list. Here are the best motherboards for Warzone 2:

1. ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme

BrandASUS
CPU SocketLGA 1718 / AM5
RAM Memory Technology  DDR5
Compatible Processors      AMD Ryzen 7000 Series
Chipset TypeAMD X670
Memory Speed         6400 MHz
RAM Memory Maximum Size         128 GB
Graphics Card Interface      2  M.2 slots – PCIe 5.0 ready

Pros

  • Supports PCIe 5.0
  • Very nice looking motherboard
  • 12 Total Rear I/O USB Ports
  • High quality audio
  • Built in Wifi 6
  • SATA Ports for legacy storage
  • Can handle the components necessary for running Warzone 2 smoothly.

Cons

  • Extremely expensive
  • Maybe overkill if Warzone 2 is the most difficult game you play

The ASUS ROG Crosshair x670E Extreme has a very long name that is fitting for the pure quality of this motherboard.

You don’t really need to replace motherboards very often. Most people only really think about touching their motherboard after a decade of use, or after the motherboard breaks down.

To put things simply, the X670E Extreme isn’t going to need to be touched for 10+ years. The only real downside is just how expensive the thing is, but if you don’t mind eating the cost then it is perfect for Warzone 2.

Warzone 2 isn’t exactly an easy game to run, so having a mobo that will support all of your components for the future is great.

2. ASUS ROG Maximus XII Hero Z490

BrandASUS
CPU SocketLGA 1200
RAM Memory Technology  DDR4
Compatible Processors      10th Generation Intel Core
Chipset TypeZ490
Memory Speed         4800 MHz
RAM Memory Maximum Size         128 GB
Graphics Card Interface      (2) PCIe 4.0 x4 / SATA + PCIe, (1) PCIe 4.0 x4 / PCIe

Pros

  • Can handle the components (GPU, CPU, RAM, etc) necessary for running Warzone 2
  • Three M.2 slots, all with heatsinks
  • 5GB Ethernet and 20 Gbps USB Type-C port
  • 10 rear USB ports
  • Able to overclock  Intel Core i9-10900K to 5.2 Ghz speeds

Cons

  • No PCIe 4.0 support
  • Top two M.2 ports are difficult to access

Warzone 2 is a fairly difficult game to run, so you’re going to need a powerful GPU, CPU, and RAM. Luckily, the Maximus XII Hero Z490 can handle powerful versions of all three of these components.

Technically this is a mid-range motherboard, but it’s honestly good enough to handle any game you throw at it as long as you plug in the right parts.

It can’t handle DDR5 RAM, but right now DDR4 RAM is honestly better anyways. The price is right, and overall this is one of the best mobos you can get for playing Warzone 2.

3. ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero

BrandASUS
CPU SocketSocket AM4
RAM Memory Technology  DDR4
Compatible Processors      AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen
Chipset TypeAMD 570X
Memory Speed         2133 MHz
RAM Memory Maximum Size         128 GB
Graphics Card Interface      PCIe 4.0

Pros

  • Very affordable and powerful enough for Warzone 2
  • 12 USB ports
  • LED display
  • All M.2 Slots include a heatsink

Cons

  • Chipset fan right under GPU

If you want to go overboard, then you can choose one of the motherboards above. If you just want a decent, affordable, mid range motherboard, then the ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero is perfect.

It’s good enough to handle Warzone 2 and will be good enough to handle basically any game that comes out in the next few years.

It’s not state of the art, but it’s not an old janky mobo either, so if you just want something that will do the job well, this is the best option!

4. MSI MEG B550 Unify Gaming Motherboard

BrandMSI
CPU SocketSocket AM4
RAM Memory Technology  DDR4
Compatible Processors      AMD 2nd Generation Ryzen
Chipset TypeAMD B550
Memory Speed         5100 MHz
RAM Memory Maximum Size         64 GB
Graphics Card Interface      PCIe 4.0

Pros

  • Extremely affordable
  • Good enough for Warzone 2 and decent components
  • Some of the best VRMs on an AM4 board
  • 4 M.2 slots
  • Wifi 6

Cons

  • Not as modern or powerful as some other options on this list

This motherboard isn’t as flashy as the ones that came before it on this list, but it is way cheaper and still good enough for what you’ll need for Warzone 2.

In all honesty, the only real reason to get a brand new motherboard is if you want to show it off because in a year there will be another brand new mobo on the market.

Granted, if you plan to get the newest 40 series GPUs and something like an i9 processor, you may want to go ahead and shell out the money for a more expensive mobo with more modern hookups.

However, if you are building a mid range PC that will run Warzone 2 and likely whatever else you throw at it, the MSI MEG B550 will do the job.

5. MSI MEG X570S Unify-X MAX Gaming Motherboard

BrandMSI
CPU SocketSocket AM4
RAM Memory Technology  DDR4
Compatible Processors      AMD 2nd Generation Ryzen
Chipset TypeAMD 570X
Memory Speed         5300 MHz
RAM Memory Maximum Size         64 GB
Graphics Card Interface       PCIe 4

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Good enough for Warzone 2
  • Great starter Motherboard for budget builds

Cons

  • Not the best Mobo for Warzone 2 because it is a little weak
  • USB issue causes disconnects for unlucky users

So this isn’t the best motherboard, but if you only plan to use something like a Ryzen 5 CPU and a mid range / low end GPU, then it will be perfect.

In all honesty, what you plug into the motherboard is going to matter a lot more than the motherboard itself.

This motherboard can’t really support state-of-the art GPUs, CPUs, etc, but it can support DDR4 RAM and CPUs / GPUs that are good enough for Warzone 2.

So if you want to build a budget PC for Warzone 2 and similar games, this motherboard will be perfect for you! It’s reliable, looks fine, and gets the job done.

Do Motherboards Matter For Warzone 2?

Motherboards matter for Warzone 2 because they determine what GPU, CPU, and RAM components you can use and how well they run, which is important for Warzone 2. However, upgrading a motherboard alone will not impact performance unless something else (CPU, GPU, RAM) is also upgraded during the process.

Motherboards indirectly impact Warzone 2 performance because they let you use better components. Upgrading your motherboard isn’t going to do anything, though, unless you upgrade everything plugged into it.

So, do they matter? Definitely, but not in the same way that a GPU, CPU, or RAM matter.

What To Consider In A Motherboard For Warzone 2?

A motherboard for Warzone 2 should be able to support  64GB of RAM, have a CPU socket that can support a modern i7 or equivalent processor, a PCIe 4.0 interface, and be able to support high memory speeds. The motherboard should be compatible with components necessary to run Call of Duty Warzone 2.

Your motherboard isn’t going to be anywhere near as important as the CPU, GPU, and RAM you choose for Warzone 2.

If I were to choose a motherboard, I’d ensure I could run an Intel i7 97k CPU and a 30 series NVIDIA GPU just so I know I’d be able to run Warzone 2 at 144+ FPS.

If you don’t mind sacrificing some quality, you can choose a weaker motherboard and get along just fine.

However, if you want to have the best gaming experience possible, you should spring for a modern board that can run modern components.
