[7] Best GPUs For Warzone – Ultimate Guide

Warzone is one of the most fun free to play games out at the moment. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most technically demanding games.

On top of being demanding, it is pretty poorly optimized which means you’ll need a great GPU.

In this list, I’m going to cover the best high, medium, and low (ish) end GPUs for running and even streaming Warzone.

Here are my recommendations, ranked in order of performance:

There’s no point in beating around the bush here. If you have the money and your case can handle this big boy, pull the trigger and get it.

You’ll have absolutely no problem running Warzone on any settings you choose. You can find gameplay on Youtube of people playing Warzone in 4k with the 3090 Ti and hitting a consistent 120+ FPS.

If you want to play on 1080 or 1440p, then you can expect even more frames.

Before you drop a whole bag on this card, just make sure that it’s compatible with the rest of your system. It’s a pretty new card, with hefty features like PCIe 4.0 x16 and GDDR6X memory.

If you’re unsure, you can check out PCPartPicker. Just enter the rest of your build and select the 3090 TI for your graphics card.

If it’s compatible and you have room in your case, I think you know what to do next.

Do note, though, that Call of Duty: WARZONE is pretty unoptimized in general. Even with that poor optimization, this card can hit the 120 FPS mark, which is pretty insane.

The good news is that since this card can run Warzone this well, it can run pretty much any game you can think of at 4k, 60+ FPS. The bad news is that you’ll need a new excuse when you lose your games.

DLSS and NVENC are great, which is the main advantage of NVIDIA card. However, this doesn’t mean you should completely write off AMD card.

The Radeon RX 6800 XT has plenty of power and can run Warzone in 4k, no problem (kind of). On Youtube, you can find videos of people playing Warzone in 4k with this card.

They get an average of about 100 FPS, with occasional drops. If getting 120+ FPS in 4k is important to you, then you need the RTX 3090 TI.

This is a lot smaller than the 3090 TI, so it’ll fit in many more cases. This is about 10.5 inches long, which isn’t surprising for 3 fans.

It has a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface and GDDR6 memory, so if you want to get the most out of it then make sure your motherboard and CPU are compatible.

Most of the downsides for this card are simply the fact that it isn’t an NVIDIA card and doesn’t have the convenient NVIDIA features.

If you’re not a streamer, this won’t matter much. If you are a streamer, then having a really good CPU will come in handy when streaming time comes.

If you just want a really powerful card that can run Warzone at max settings, then pay half the price and get the 6800 XT.

If you play on lower settings or in a lower resolution, getting 120 FPS will be cake for this GPU. This is without a doubt the best AMD graphics card for Warzone.

I’ve actually seen mixed results for this card. On one hand, benchmarks are out showing that it can’t hit 60 FPS on games like Dying Light 2 and Total War: Warhammer III while gaming in 4k.

On the other hand, I can hop on Youtube right now and watch someone play Warzone in 4k at about 80 FPS on average with the occasional 46 FPS drop.

If you don’t care about 4k, and are fine just playing on max settings in 1080p or even 1440p then this GPU is perfect.

My main issue with this card is that it costs about $100 more than the 6800XT at the moment, while offering very similar performance.

Looking at benchmarks, the 6800XT even beats this card at 1440p and 1080p when it comes to FPS. However, this card has those fancy NVIDIA features that make it worth the money to many.

DLSS, G-sync, and the other NVIDIA features are all great so the two cards are very comparable.

This card is a beast and a lot better than I thought it would be before I started my research. Just like the previous cards, you can find video footage of people playing Warzone with this card.

Even in 4k this thing can consistently break that 60 FPS mark. Now, if you don’t want frame drops, then you can turn your settings on low and turn DLSS on.

In short, DLSS will use deep learning to make your game look much prettier, which will save GPU power and increase your frames.

DLSS is one of the major advantages of having an NVIDIA card, so there’s no reason not to use it.

If you don’t want to game in 4k, and just want to run Warzone like butter, then this is your card. It’s a little pricey, but if your budget is around $500 then you can’t beat it.

Before you buy this card, though, make sure you have a 12-pin power connector and that the rest of your rig won’t bottleneck this card’s performance.

Honestly, I’d probably choose the RTX 3070 over this card most of the time. If you want to stick with an AMD card though, and this falls perfectly in your budget then you will not be disappointed.

The main reason that I like NVIDIA’s RTX 3070 more is because it comes with DLSS. DLSS will make those higher resolutions look so much better, even on low graphic settings.

With that being said, this card is a bit cheaper than the RTX 3070 and does offer very similar performance. If you just want to play Warzone with a high FPS, this is the card you want.

It doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles that an NVIDIA card has, but it can put in the work. At 1080p, you’ll get well over 200 FPS most of the time.

At 1440p, you’ll still run through the 140 mark. Finally at 4k, you can hit 100+ FPS no problem in Warzone.

Overall this is a fantastic card. It’s very powerful, and if your current build can handle it, you won’t regret picking it up.

Like all of the cards above, you just need to make sure that your build is compatible and that your power supply has enough wattage (650 W) to handle this card.

When a card is this cheap and can handle 4k gaming, you know it’s a good card.

Seeing this card run Warzone at 60 FPS in 4k makes me think the game isn’t as poorly optimized as many people believe (okay, maybe it is).

If you’re not shooting for 4k and are just looking for a great card, this is a fantastic option.

8 GB isn’t very high compared to many cards on this list, but you have to keep in mind this is about $200 cheaper.

I game on a card with about 6 GB and I have no issues with frames or graphics in any game I play. So 8 GB can easily get the job done.

If you want to get 144+ FPS in order to keep up with your monitor’s refresh rate, then you may have to turn your graphics down a little.

On low settings, 1080p you should be reaching about 200 FPS with this GPU. Even on high settings, you should be getting over 100, which will make most people very happy.

So, overall this might not be the most powerful GPU in the world, but it’s a fantastic card for the price. It’ll handle Warzone, easily, but if you want to hit 200 FPS you may have to turn your graphics down a tad.

I’m a simple gamer. I like playing pretty games and I like getting big frames and this GPU does all of that at a reasonable price. There’s really not going to be a better performing card at this price point.

Even though it’s cheaper, it can still do everything most gamers need. It can hit 120 FPS in Warzone, even on max settings and it has NVENC for easy streaming.

If you want more FPS (for a 144+ Hz refresh rate monitor), you can also lower your graphics settings.

This card only has 6 GB of VRAM, which is the lowest amount of VRAM on this list.

That’s going to be a limiting factor, but 6 GB really isn’t bad. 6 GB is enough to keep up with Warzone’s needs, which means it’s plenty of VRAM for most other games as well.

Overall, this is a fantastic card for the price. If you’re used to a 1050 or similar, then this will be a huge upgrade.

If you have extra money to spare, then consider an RTX 3070 because you’ll get the 140+ FPS on any settings you want. If not, then this will get you 100+ FPS on any settings and 200+ on low.

What Makes A GPU Good For Warzone?

A GPU is good for Warzone if it has 6 GB of VRAM and a PCIe 3.0 x8 (or x16) interface. GPUs with these specs should be strong enough to run Warzone at 140+ FPS, which is extremely important for first person shooters. A GeForce GTX 1080 is a good example of a GPU that can run Warzone perfectly on low settings.

It may seem silly to say that you need a GPU that can pump out FPS for Warzone. You want high FPS in every game, after all.

However, it’s common knowledge in the Warzone community that the game is pretty poorly optimized. This means to get a consistent 140+ FPS, your card has to be extra strong.

By extra strong, I mean it should have at least 6 GB of VRAM and high bandwidth.

On top of the optimization of Warzone, it’s common for FPS players to game on 144 Hz monitors. This is because it allows for smoother mouse movements, flicks, and headshots.

A 144 Hz monitor is pretty useless if you can only get 60 FPS, though. So it’s extremely important that your GPU is strong enough to pump out those frames.

Activision actually has a page on their website which recommends a few different GPUs.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 is the absolute weakest GPU you can get away with, but I’d still probably stay far away if you can help it.

Bumping up to a GeForce GTX 970 would be much better, even if it only has 4 GB of VRAM. If you can afford it, of course, then go for a card with 6 GB of VRAM.

There are many AMD (6600 – 6800 XT) and NVIDIA (RTX 2060 – 3090) cards that fit the bill and will be able to give you near infinite frames in Warzone.

Is GPU Important For Warzone

Your GPU is highly important for Warzone because it has very demanding graphics. Warzone can be played on low settings, which is actually recommended by competitive players. Even then, if you want to have 144+ FPS in game, you should have a pretty powerful GPU. CPU and RAM are also important for Warzone.

Your GPU is very important for any game that has the kind of graphics that Warzone has. However, through experimentation, players have learned that Warzone is more dependent on the CPU and RAM.

So, while a good GPU is important for playing Warzone, you will also need to have a fast CPU and fast RAM if you want to maximize your framerate.

Is Warzone More GPU Or CPU Intensive?

Warzone is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. It also relies on fast RAM. Having a CPU that can reach 5.0 GHz or more (with overclocking, if necessary) and RAM with a speed of 4000MHz will go a long way towards increasing Warzone’s performance. GPU is important, but not as important as CPU and RAM.

Even if your CPU doesn’t run at 5.0 Ghz and your RAM isn’t very fast, you can do things to improve your Warzone performance.

If you’re very tech savvy, you can figure out how to tighten your RAM timings and how to overclock your CPU. This will pretty much immediately improve Warzone’s performance.

You should still have an RTX 2060 or better because Warzone still relies quite a bit on the GPU.

But if you have a mid-range GPU already and aren’t seeing the frames you want, you should consider upgrading your CPU or atleast overclocking it.

You can also check task manager to see what Warzone is using more while it’s running. If it’s only using 50% of your GPU, but 100% of your CPU, then it’s time for a new CPU.

Warzone GPU Requirements

Warzone requires a GeForce GTX 670, GeForce GTX 1650, Radeon HD 7950, or better in order to play. These GPUs fit within Activision’s minimum specs. However, if you want to play with high framerates on high refresh monitors, you should have a GeForce GTX 1080, RTX 2070 SUPER, Radeon RX Vega, or better.

Activision themselves have claimed that the GTX 670 and GTX 1650 are strong enough to run Warzone. However, you probably won’t be hitting 60 FPS very often.

Having a high framerate is very important in first person shooters like Warzone, so I’d highly recommend stepping up to a GTX 970 or better.

If you really want to hit your FPS out of the park, on any settings, then you can grab an RTX 2060, 3070, etc.
