Let’s dive into these ideas in more detail down below.
1. Cake To The Face
Yup. Just like it says. Take a cake to the face. If you smack a cake in your face live on stream I can assure you that your chat will never forget it. It would be hilarious.
But if you do pie yourself in the face with a cake I recommend doing it towards the end of your stream so that way you aren’t streaming with cake on your face the whole time.
Also, make sure you have something to protect your floor like a blanket or tarp because taking a cake to the face could get messy.
2. Have Viewers Submit Messages To You And Watch Them On Stream
This idea will take some effort and planning, but it is totally worth it.
What you would do is have people from your community submit messages to your mods, your mods would compile them into one giant video and then you would watch the video live on stream with your viewers.
These could be birthday messages, funny messages or whatever you want. This is great for community building and for other people from your community to appear on your stream.
3. Birthday Stream Overlays
Your birthday is a special day and so why not celebrate with some unique overlays. These overlays can be birthday themed, or you can use some kind of bright colors that you feel represent your birthday.
As always, if you are looking for special overlays, OWN3D.TV is the way to go (you can check them out here). I use them for my overlays and they have been great. Also, they are extremely easy to set up.
4. Wear A Special Birthday Costume
Many streamers will dress up in a special costume when it is their birthday. This could be a shirt with a cake on it, funky glasses or maybe you dress up as your favorite anime character for the stream.
Dressing up for your stream is different and if you hype it up properly it is something that people will want to tune in and see.
5. Do An IRL Stream Celebrating Your Birthday With IRL Friends
Viewers like to feel connected to you and so why not invite some of your IRL friends over and have a mini birthday party (or a big one if you think you can pull it off).
This gives your viewers a chance to meet some of your IRL friends and your IRL friends to meet some of your streaming friends.
Eat some food, read some chat, and just chill. This one would be fun for both your chat and your IRL friends. And if you want to know how to IRL stream from your phone, click on the link for my article about just that.
6. Read Funny Birthday Cards On Stream
This one is easy and could be hilarious for yourself and your stream.
Now there are several ways you can pull this one off. First, you could do it the easy way and google funny birthday cards and go over them with your stream.
Next, you could buy some cards at the store or online and then go over them with your stream. And lastly, and in my opinion the best way would be to have some of your viewers send you birthday cards and then read them on stream.
Now your community could send them to you as an e-card via email or send them to you through mail. If you choose to have your community mail you cards then it is best to have a P.O. box set up so that way you don’t reveal your address.
7. Add The Birthday Tag To Your Stream On Twitch
Did you know there is an actual birthday tag on Twitch? You can add a Twitch tag that lets other people know it is your birthday. But I recommend only using this tag if you are actually doing something fun for your birthday stream.
If you use the tag, and someone finds you because of the tag, they probably won’t stay long if it looks like another typical stream. And if you need help adding tags on Twitch then watch my video below.
8. Eat Cake On Stream With Your Viewers
Who doesn’t like eating cake right? And eating cake with friends, even better.
To pull this one off you can either buy your favorite cake and eat it while hanging with your viewers or you could invite others in your community to buy their own cakes and eat with you while you all chat and debate who has the better cake.
And to make it even more interesting you could all bake your cakes and then use Twitter or Discord to show your cakes off and decide who has the best cake. Lots of options here.
9. Create Birthday Emotes For Your Stream
During special holidays like Halloween or Christmas some streamers will create unique emotes to celebrate the day. Why not create special emotes to celebrate your birthday?
You could make birthday cake emotes, candle emotes or just a simple emote that says “Happy Birthday”. And just like the overlays, OWN3D.TV has special birthday emotes as well that you can use.
If you need help uploading emotes, check out my video below.
10. Bake A Cake With Your Viewers
You don’t have to be a baking expert for this one, and that’s the whole point. How fun would it be for your stream to see you attempt to bake a cake on stream, especially if you are horrible at baking.
Even better, if you are good at baking maybe you can finally take this chance to show off your baking skills to the streaming world. Either way, baking a cake for your stream sounds like a win win to me.
11. Have A Giveaway On Stream
It’s your birthday so why not spread some of the love around. A giveaway on stream is an excellent way to do this.
It could be a gift card, some merch, gifted subs or anything that you think would be meaningful to your audience. But make sure you don’t start giving things away until people have had a chance to get into your stream.
12. Play Birthday Games With Your Viewers
Pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, balloon toss, etc. These are all great party games and would be super fun to play with your viewers watching.
Of course some of these games will require more planning and preparation than others, but they would be well worth it because of how entertaining they would be.
13. Try Different Flavored Cakes On Stream
What if you bought a bunch of different flavored cakes on stream, sampled each one and then gave them a rating? You could do tres leches, chocolate, cinnamon, etc., etc.
And to get your community even more involved you could ask them which types of cakes you should buy so they can see your reaction to eating the cake they selected for you.
14. Create A Birthday Command For Your Stream
Something really easy and really cool to do for your birthday stream would be creating a birthday command. And what exactly this command does is up to you.
Maybe every time someone types in the command “!birthday” the automated response is the date, time and location of your birth. Or maybe a link pops up where viewers can donate to a cause of your choice.
Regardless of what you set up the birthday command to do, having such a command will definitely make the chat more interactive as people will be using the command to see the command’s response.
And if you need help setting up Cloudbot for your custom commands then check out the video below.
15. Open A Surprise Gift On Stream
Everyone likes surprises right? What if you opened a surprise gift in front of your viewers!?
This could be a gift that you purchase for yourself, a gift you purchase for yourself and your stream, or a gift that your stream gifts to you and you open on stream.
And if your funds are right, maybe you open more than 1 gift. And if your funds are really right, maybe you open some of the gifts and give them away to some viewers. The choice is all yours.
16. Place Birthday Decorations In Your Background
What is a birthday without decorations? You don’t have to do anything fancy, but placing a few balloons, some birthday streamers and a “Happy Birthday” sign in the background could really make your birthday stream pop.
Also, adding these decorations in your background is cheap and easy to do and so you won’t have to break your bank, or your back, to make your stream look cool.
17. Sing Happy Birthday In Different Languages
How funny would it be trying to sing happy birthday in a foreign language that you know nothing about? You can start singing it in your native tongue and then switch to languages that you are less and less familiar with.
Oh, and to make things even more complicated, not all languages use the same song to wish someone a happy birthday. Now that could get interesting.
18. Give A Portion Of Your Stream’s Donations To Charity
What better way to give than to give back? At some point you may find yourself having everything you need and want. If you find yourself in this position then it may be time to give back.
Since doing a birthday stream will most likely draw more attention than your normal streams would, it could be a great opportunity for you to encourage others to donate to a cause that you are passionate about.
A birthday stream and a charity stream all wrapped into one, now that is what I call a bangin stream!
19. Have Special Birthday Channel Points Reward
Channel points are always a great way to increase engagement on a Twitch stream. But what if you set up special channel point rewards that are specific for your birthday?
Maybe for a certain amount of points you have to eat a cupcake. Or for a certain amount of points you have to yell out “Happy Birthday”. Be creative and make it fun for your viewers.
And if you need help setting up channel points on your Twitch stream then check out my video below.
20. Watch Old Videos Of Yourself
How about a trip down memory lane for you birthday stream. If you feel comfortable, something you could do with your stream is watch old videos of yourself when you were just a youngin.
If you choose to do this, make sure you prepare in advance. It may take time to upload certain videos and turn them into a montage for your stream. But how memorable would it be watching old memories with your community.
21. Play Games With Viewers
This is a pretty straightforward idea, but it is something that viewers typically love. Playing games is always a great community builder, regardless of the game you play.
And if you do decide to play games with your viewers I think it is best that you set up a queue so that everyone can easily take turns. Check out my video below if you want to know how to set up a queue.
22. Gift Subs Equal To Your Age
You might have to have some money saved up for this one, but if you do, it would be pretty cool if you gifted subs equal to the age you are turning.
So if you are turning 27, that is 27 gifted subs for your community. This one is simple, but is something that will have your chat thinking you are a legend! If you want to know more about gifted subs, check out my article I linked to.
23. Pop A Balloon For Every Sub
What if every time someone subbed to your channel on your birthday you popped a balloon?
Fill your room with a ton of balloons and each time someone subs or gifts a sub you grab a balloon from behind you and pop it on stream. How many people do you think would sub if they knew you would be popping a balloon for them?
24. Create A Birthday Playlist
Party time! Make a unique playlist full of songs for you and your stream to jam out to. These can be cheesy birthday songs or major bangers that you and your stream can rock with while celebrating your birthday.
However, regardless of the style of music you choose, make sure that the music you use for your stream is copyright free. If not, you can get your streaming account suspended or even banned.
For this reason, when I am looking for music to play on stream, I go with Epidemic Sound (click here to check them out). They have some awesome copy right free music that you can play on stream.
25. Pop Party Poppers On Stream
I don’t know how you want to use these, or when you want to use these, but party poppers are great for any birthday party. You can make party poppers part of your channel point rewards for the day or pop one every time you get a sub.
Maybe you even stay up until midnight and then pop a bunch of poppers when it is officially your birthday. So many ideas and so many things you can do with party poppers. You can see the type of party poppers I am talking about here on Amazon.
