Can Other People See Your Email Or Real Name On Twitch?

Online privacy is a growing concern among people, especially when it comes to popular social media and streaming platforms like Twitch. In this article I go over what information streamers and other users can see about you on Twitch.

Can Other People See Your Email On Twitch?

Other Twitch users cannot see your email on Twitch. The only piece of information other Twitch users can see on Twitch is a person’s username.

Although Twitch does not share a user’s email address, some users choose to put their email on their Twitch channel for people to contact them.

So now that we know that the only thing you can see about another user on Twitch is their username, let’s talk about what other streamers can see from those who donate, sub, or cheer on their channel.

Can Twitch Streamers See Your Email?

Twitch streamers cannot see your email address through Twitch; however, if you donate to a streamer through a third party such as PayPal or Cash App, then the streamer will usually be able to see your full name and email address.

If you want to avoid streamers seeing any of your personal information, then stick to donating Twitch bits, gifting subs, and subbing to the channel every month.

When you donate through Twitch itself, none of your personal information is shared with the streamer so you don’t have to worry.

But what about your real name? Can other users and streamers see that?

Can Other People See Your Real Name On Twitch?

Other people cannot see your real name on Twitch. On Twitch, most users go by a username that they created that is different than their real name. The only way for people to find your real name on Twitch is if you share it with them. Twitch will not share your real name with others.

You only need a username and email to join Twitch, so the only way someone can see your real name is if you are using it in your username.

Other users cannot see your email address, so it does not matter if your real name is a part of your email address either.

If you are concerned about your real name being revealed then just choose a username that has nothing to do with your real name and you are good to go.

Can Twitch Streamers See Your Real Name?

Twitch streamers cannot see your real name through Twitch; however, if you donate to a streamer through a third party such as PayPal or Cash App, then the streamer will usually be able to see your full name. Subbing, gifting subs, and cheering on a Twitch channel does not reveal your real name.

When signing up for Twitch, it is required to share some personal information, like your birthday and email, but your real name is not required.

The age requirement is meant to ensure that users are not accessing age-restricted content and is meant to protect both Twitch and its users.

As far as giving Twitch your email, this is used to verify your account, email you notifications, and will help you to recover your account if you are ever hacked. Your email however, as previously mentioned, will not be shared with others.

Ok, so streamers can’t see your email or real name, but since you are giving money to their channel, can they see your credit card information?

Can Twitch Streamers See Your Credit Card Information?

Twitch streamers cannot see your credit card information if you give to them through Twitch. This means if you sub, gift subs, or cheer with Twitch bits that your credit card information is hidden from the streamer. If you donate to a streamer through PayPal your credit card information will also be hidden.

Since Twitch handles all of the payment processing there is no need for a streamer to see your credit card information. It’s understandable to be concerned, but don’t worry, donating through Twitch is safe and reliable.

Now if a streamer is asking you to donate through a third party then be careful and only donate if the third party is a company you recognize.

Common platforms for streamers to accept donations on are PayPal, Cash App, and Venmo. These platforms are secure and legitimate.

If a streamer is asking you to donate on a platform that you are unfamiliar with make sure to do your research before sending any money.

If you are at all worried, just play it safe and give to them through Twitch.

Now let’s talk about what a streamer can see when you sub to their channel.

What Does A Streamer See When You Subscribe To Them On Twitch?

When you subscribe to a streamer on Twitch they will be able to see your username, sub tier, the date you subbed, your sub streak, and your sub type (recurring or not). They cannot see your real name, email address, or credit card/payment information.

When you choose to support a channel by subscribing, you are sending money to Twitch, who then sends a percentage of that money to the streamer. Twitch will be able to see your personal information, but the streamer will not.

Even if the streamer wanted this information, Twitch doesn’t share it with them because of privacy concerns. This means you can feel safe subbing to any channel on Twitch.

Can Twitch Streamers See Your Name Or Email When You Donate?

If you donate to a streamer through a third party such as PayPal, Cash App, or Venmo, then the streamer can usually see your full name and email address. If you give to a streamer through Twitch via gifted subs, bits, or subbing to the channel then none of your personal information is revealed.

Although Twitch takes a percentage of subs and Twitch bits that are donated to a streamer, it is the best way to go if you are concerned about a streaming seeing some of your personal information.

Lastly, what about where you live? Can a streamer see that?

Can Twitch Streamers See Your Location?

Twitch streamers can’t see your specific location, but they can see which countries their viewers as a whole are coming from. In smaller streams with fewer viewers it is easier for the streamer to identify which country a viewer may reside, but in larger streams it is much more difficult.

With that being said, Twitch does not show a streamer which country a particular viewer is coming from. But like I said, with smaller channels it is not difficult for them to figure it out.

Knowing your audience is important to streaming, which means you need to know where people are watching you from.

Twitch gives this information to creators, but with a caveat. Streamers can see percentages, but they cannot click on a username and see where the user is coming from.

Twitch can see your IP address, but it is only used in cases where a user is IP-banned for breaking site rules.

I hope this article was helpful in showing what information a Twitch streamer and user can and cannot see on Twitch.
