How To Get Emotes On Twitch | With And Without Affiliate

One of the best ways to encourage chatting on Twitch is by having emotes on your stream. But how do you get emotes? I’ll answer that and more below.

How To Get Emotes On Twitch

There are four ways to get emotes for your Twitch stream: connect your Twitch to BTTV, connect your Twitch to FFZ, be a Twitch affiliate or lastly, be a Twitch partner. BTTV, Twitch affiliate and Twitch partner allow you to upload custom emotes whereas FFZ emotes are preset.

How To Add Emotes On Twitch

  1. Click on your profile icon and then go to your “Creator Dashboard”.
  2. On the left hand side click on “Viewer Rewards” then click on “Emotes”.
  3. In the top right corner of the screen click the “Upload New” to upload your new emote to Twitch.

There are a few things that you should be aware of when uploading emotes to Twitch.

First, in order to upload emotes to your Twitch channel you must be a Twitch affiliate or a Twitch partner. And the number of emotes you can upload will depend on the number of supporters you have on your channel.

Next, any emote you upload to Twitch has to be approved by Twitch before it can be added to your Twitch emote library. This approval usually takes less than a day, but sometimes can take longer.

And lastly, your emotes must be sized a certain way before they can be used on Twitch.

I wrote an entire article about uploading emotes to Twitch that you can check out here if you need some more help.

But even if you are not a Twitch affiliate you can still get emotes for your channel.

How To Get Twitch Emotes Without Being An Affiliate Or Partner

To get Twitch emotes without being an affiliate or a partner you have to download either the BTTV, FFZ or both extensions to your web browser and then connect them to your Twitch account. Both BTTV and FFZ give you access to tons of global emotes that you can use on your stream.

My BTTV Emotes

And even better you can upload up to 15 custom channel emotes to BTTV for your viewers to use on your stream.

The free versions of BTTV and FFZ will get you an extra 40 global emotes to use on your stream, but you can donate to BTTV or FFZ to unlock even more emotes for your channel.

However, it’s important to note that your viewers will have to have these extensions installed on their browsers as well in order to use these emotes.

If you want to know more about installing and adding BTTV emotes to your channel you can check out my article here.
