How To Sub Or Gift Tier 2 & 3 On Twitch – Easy Tutorial

If you watch Twitch then you probably know what a Twitch sub is. However, did you know that there are different tiers of Twitch subbing and that for a little extra money you can unlock even more perks on a streamer’s Twitch channel?

In this article I will go over how to sub with a tier 2 or tier 3 sub on Twitch and what kind of extra perks these sub tiers give to a Twitch user.

How To Subscribe Tier 2 On Twitch

  1. Log into Twitch and go to the channel you want to sub to.
  2. Click on the “Subscribe” button right below the stream.
  3. Now click “Go above and beyond”.
  4. Click “Subscribe at tier 2”.
  5. Enter you payment information and click “Pay & Subscribe”.

Here are some images to help provide more detail.

One quick thing that I want to point out is that in order for you to sub tier 2 or 3 to a Twitch channel, the streamer must be a Twitch Affiliate or a Twitch Partner. If they are not, they will not have a sub button on their channel.

As you can see, subbing on Twitch with a tier 2 sub is very similar to subbing as a tier 1 sub, it just costs a bit more money. Let’s talk about the cost more below.

How Much Does A Tier 2 Sub Cost On Twitch?

A Tier 2 sub on Twitch costs $9.99 USD a month; however, Twitch offers a 10% discount for those who pay for 3 months up front and a 15% discount for those who pay for 6 months up front. For this reason, users can save money through buying several months of subscriptions at one time.

So for example, if you buy 3 months worth of tier 2 subscriptions on Twitch you would end up paying $26.97 instead of $29.97. This would save you $3.00.

Sub Renewal Option

Likewise, if you buy 6 months worth of tier 2 subscriptions on Twitch you would end up paying $50.95 instead of $59.94. This would save you $8.99.

Sub Renewal Option

Now this may not seem like a lot, but if this is a streamer you really like, and you plan on supporting them for a long time, then there is no reason not to save a couple dollars in the process.

Also, depending on where you live, you may have to pay a little bit extra in taxes when you check out.

Let’s now discuss what some of the benefits are of subbing with a tier 2 sub on Twitch.

What Are The Benefits Of Subbing Tier 2 On Twitch?

Common benefits for tier 2 subs on Twitch include: all the benefits of a tier 1 sub, exclusive emotes, special tier 2 sub badge flair, an emote modifier, and more money towards the streamer. However, the exact benefits of subbing tier 2 to a Twitch streamer will vary from channel to channel.

You can see the extra perks offered with a tier 2 sub to a channel by clicking the words “some extras as thanks” located right above the “Subscribe at Tier 2 Button”.

List Of Tier 2 Perks For A Channel

Also, some streamers will list what perks come with each Twitch sub tier in their Twitch panels, but this is rare.

Beyond special Twitch perks, some streamers offer additional bonuses outside of Twitch such as access to a tier 2 sub channel on their Discord, extra video content outside of the stream, or the invitation to collab on upcoming content.

It is really up to the streamer what kinds of perks they will offer to those who sub tier 2 on their channel.

And like I mentioned, one of the best benefits is that the higher your sub tier, the more money a streamer will receive from you. This is because sub revenue is split between Twitch and the streamer 50/50.

This means a tier 2 sub will net a streamer around $5 instead of the $2.50 that a tier 1 sub would net a streamer. And that little extra support can go a long way.

Speaking of supporting a channel, if you would like to gift a tier 2 sub to another user on Twitch, here is how you would do that.

So now that I went over tier 2 subs, let’s talk more about the highest sub tier on Twitch, tier 3 subs.

  1. Log into Twitch and go to the channel you want to sub to.
  2. Click on the “Subscribe” button right below the stream.

Now click “Go above and beyond”.

Click “Subscribe at tier 3”.

Enter you payment information and click “Pay & Subscribe”.

As you can see, subbing tier 3 is pretty similar to subbing with a tier 1 or 2 sub on Twitch, but now let’s talk about how the price of a tier 3 sub differs from other sub tiers.

How Much Does A Tier 3 Sub Cost On Twitch?

A Tier 3 sub on Twitch costs $24.99 USD a month; however, Twitch offers a 10% discount for those who pay for 3 months up front and a 15% discount for those who pay for 6 months up front. For this reason, users can save money through buying several months of subscriptions at one time.

So for example, if you buy 3 months worth of tier 3 subscriptions on Twitch you would end up paying $67.47 instead of $74.97. This would save you $7.50.

Likewise, if you buy 6 months worth of tier 3 subscriptions on Twitch you would end up paying $127.45 instead of $149.94. This would save you $22.49.

Again, like I touched on earlier, if you plan on staying subbed to a channel for a long time then why not save a few dollars when you sub?

Also, when you buy in bulk you won’t have to worry about your subs renewing or not renewing. This makes it a lot easier for you to maintain your sub streak.

What Are The Benefits Of Subbing Tier 3 On Twitch?

Common benefits for tier 3 subs on Twitch include: all the benefits of a tier 1 & 2 sub, exclusive emotes, special tier 3 sub badge flair, an emote modifier, and more money towards the streamer. However, the exact benefits of subbing tier 3 to a Twitch streamer will vary from channel to channel.

You can see the extra perks offered with a tier 3 sub to a channel by clicking the words “extra special exclusives” located right above the “Subscribe at Tier 3 Button”.

Tier 3 Sub Perks

Also, before you sub tier 3, it’s a good idea to check the streamer’s Twitch panels to see if there is anything you will want to take advantage of once you sub tier 3.

And the best thing of all is that the streamer you are supporting will get around $12.50 from your sub rather than the $2.50 for a tier 1 sub and $5 for a tier 2 sub.

That extra money can go a long way in helping a streamer improve their streams and will allow them to dedicate more time streaming for their viewers.

Subbing tier 3 on Twitch is the highest sub tier and is the ultimate way to show just how much you support a specific community. Now if you want to share the love, and give other members in the community a tier 3 sub, here is how you would do that.

Can You Sub Tier 2 Or 3 On Twitch Mobile?

Twitch does not have an option to sub, or gift subs at tier 2 or 3 on mobile. Twitch mobile subs and sub tokens can only be used for a tier 1 subscription to a Twitch channel. If you want to sub at a higher tier you will have to do it through the Twitch website itself.

This means you will either have to log onto your PC and sub there, or you will have to open the Twitch website through your browser on your phone. This may change in the future, but for now this is the best option.

Can You Upgrade Or Downgrade A Twitch Sub?

Twitch does not allow users to upgrade, or downgrade their Twitch subscriptions. If you want to change your sub tier you will have to wait until your subscription expires and then upgrade or downgrade your subscription when you go to re-sub.

Now let’s talk about if anyone really uses these higher tiers to sub on Twitch.

Does Anyone Really Sub Tier 2 Or 3 On Twitch?

There are people who sub tier 2 and tier 3 on Twitch, but it is not common. Most Twitch users sub with a tier 1 subscription since it is the cheapest option and can be had for free through Amazon Prime.

Subbing on Twitch comes with perks like access to custom emotes, subscriber badges, and ad-free viewing. These perks are available to people even at the lowest sub tier (tier 1).

This means that even with extra perks, not a lot of people use Tier 2 and 3 subscriptions since the main perks of a Twitch sub can be enjoyed with a simple tier 1 sub.

For example, xQc currently has the highest sub number on Twitch with 85,417, at the time of writing. Of those 85,417, only 271 are higher tier subscriptions; 164 Tier 2s and 107 Tier 3s. That is a meager %0.3 of his total sub count.

While the percentages can be higher in small channels, most people still prefer sticking with tier 1 subs.

If you are a streamer, and want to entice your viewers to sub at a higher tier, then I recommend offering things outside of Twitch such as an e-book or special merch.

Unless other things are being offered, it is clear that tier 2 and 3 subs are just not that interesting to Twitch viewers.

Is Subbing Tier 2 Or 3 On Twitch Worth It?

If you really like a streamer, and are looking for additional ways to help them succeed, then subbing tier 2 or 3 to a channel is a great way to show that extra support. It will also give you greater recognition within the streamer’s community.

With that being said, I would only sub using a higher tier if I planned on sticking around a channel. I think it is pointless to sub tier 2 or 3 to a channel that you are not that invested in.

Like I mentioned, I think tier 2 and 3 level subs should only be used by the most loyal supporters of a community. If you just want to sub for the sake of subbing, stick to a tier 1 sub.
