How To Upload Twitch Clips To Twitter

“Clip that!” I’m sure you’ve heard that before on Twitch right? But what’s the point of clipping something if you can’t share it with the boys am I right?

In this article I’m going to lay out how to upload your Twitch clips to Twitter.

How to Upload Twitch Clips to Twitter

To upload a Twitch clip to Twitter follow these four steps.

  1. Go to your videos section on Twitch.
  2. Scroll down to your “Clips” section and click the video you want to upload.
  3. Underneath the video that is playing you will see an upload arrow. Click it and a list of social media platforms will appear inside a tiny box.
  4. Click the Twitter icon and you will be redirected to Twitter where you can then edit what you want the tweet to look like and say. Then tweet your Twitch clip out for the world to see.

Here is a visual breakdown of where you need to go.

Go to your videos section on Twitch.

Scroll down to your “Clips” section and click the video you want to upload.

Underneath the video that is playing you will see an upload arrow. Click it and a list of social media platforms will appear inside a tiny box.

Click the Twitter icon and you will be redirected to Twitter where you can then edit what you want the tweet to look like and say. Then tweet your Twitch clip out for the world to see.

Now this is if you want to upload directly from Twitch to Twitter. If you already have a Twitch clip downloaded, or want to download a Twitch clip and upload it then follow these simple steps below:

How to Download a Twitch Clip and Upload it to Twitter

  1. Got to your videos section on Twitch.
  2. Scroll down to your “Clips” section and click the video you want to upload.
  3. Underneath the video that is playing you will see an upload arrow. Click it and a list of social media platforms, as well as a download button will appear inside a tiny box.
  4. Click on the download button and the clip will be downloaded to your computer.
  1. Now, go to Twitter and click on the Tweet button and now choose the clip that you just downloaded as the file/image that you want to upload to Twitch.

Now if you choose to download your clips and upload them, which I think is the better way to upload clips to Twitter, then I recommend getting an external hard drive like the Seagate portable external hard drive which you can get on Amazon.

These clips will take up a lot of space over time and you don’t want to run out of storage on your PC, trust me.

I like this external hard drive because it works for PC, Mac, Xbox and PS4. So whatever you use to stream, this hard drive has you covered and can store all your clips for when you need them.

Now as you can see there are two easy ways to upload to Twitch, but which way is better? Me personally, I think it is better to download the clip and then upload it to Twitch like I mentioned earlier. Let me explain why.

When you share directly from Twitch to Twitter, your video clip is a lot smaller. It also does not play automatically so people will have to click on your link in order to see your clip.

Even worse, on mobile a video clip doesn’t appear at all. It’s just whatever you wrote and a link to your Twitch account. It’s tough to grab a person’s attention with just a link don’t you think?

On the other hand, when you download your clip from Twitch and upload it to Twitter, the video plays automatically on Twitter for anyone scrolling through Twitter that comes across your video.

You can still put all the links and hashtags you want, so you can still put a link to your Twitch since it won’t be placed automatically when you upload the video yourself.

Like I said I really like the fact that the video clip just starts to play automatically without people having to click on anything. I think this is a lot more engaging and is more likely to grab the viewer’s attention.

Why Should You Upload Twitch Clips to Twitter?

You should upload your Twitch clips and videos to Twitter in order to get more exposure for your Twitch channel. The more clips and videos you upload, the more chances you have to get noticed and followed by others. Twitter is one way you are able to sell your Twitch channel to other people.

It’s like many of the big name streamers talk about, the more you put yourself out there, the more chances you have to get noticed.

You may be the best at a certain game, but if you don’t put yourself out there in front of people then nobody will ever know how good you are.

Unfortunately, Twitch does not do a great job of giving exposure to smaller streamers on the platform. For this reason, if you are looking to grow on Twitch, then you will have to rely on other social media platforms like Twitter.

Another key to getting noticed on Twitter is using hashtags. Hashtags are so clutch! Hashtags help to get your content out in front of people who will be interested in seeing your content. So tag your game or anything else you think that might get the right people to see your tweet.

What Kind of Clips Should You Upload to Twitter?

The clips you upload to Twitter should be clips of either really awesome game play or of something crazy or funny that happened while you were streaming. These clips are like highlights of your channel and so they are meant to be short and sweet.

Don’t upload a clip just for the sake of uploading a clip. If you streamed and nothing really great happened then don’t upload. Don’t just throw out a random clip of your stream just for the sake of uploading.

You want to be known as the person who has cool, exciting and funny clips not the guy who posts random clips that are boring to watch.

A lot of streamers will even go out of their way to create entertaining or eye catching clips. For example in Fortnite, how many times did you see people attempting impossible trick shots just so they could clip it?

Going out of your way to make good clips may take a long time, but it can pay off big in the long run if you are able to get clips that capture peoples’ attention.

Remember, Twitter and all the other social media platforms are just used to gain exposure and to network. Create content on your social medias that you think people will want to see and over time you will see results.

It does take time though so remember to be patient.

Uploading Twitch clips to Twitter is very simple. In just a few short steps you can have an awesome clip uploaded to your Twitter for the world to see.

Remember that uploading to Twitter and other social media platforms is important because it gives your Twitch channel more opportunities to get seen and hopefully these people who see your channel turn into followers.

However, always remember to upload quality clips. Lame, boring clips just won’t cut it. Always try to make it fun, exciting and interesting.

Making Twitch clips can be super fun! They are a great way for people who visit your channel to get a preview of what your channel is all about. Always try and look for a couple clips every stream that you think would make for good content.

If you are consistent, and keep producing good content then over time you will surely see results.

Good luck out there my friends!

👋 Hey There, I'm Eric!

Since 2018, I've been making streams come true.

I like gaming, streaming and watching other people stream. I created this website to help streamers, viewers, and gamers answer questions they have regarding live streaming, gaming, and PCs. I am a Twitch affiliate and currently stream on Twitch 3 days a week. I also have a Youtube channel where I make videos about streaming. I hope you find my content helpful. Feel free to stop by one of my streams to say hi.
