Maono PM500 & Maonocaster E2 Review

Recently Maono reached out to me to review their PM500 microphone as well as their Maonocaster E2 audio interface.

I spent the week using the mic and the audio interface and in this article I will go over my key takeaways, the pros and the cons and then lastly whether or not I think the mic and the audio interface are worth it.

I also want to let you know that although Maono did provide me with the mic and sound audio interface for free, they are not paying me to write this article. As always my review will be honest and based on my own experience with the equipment.

PM500 & Maonocaster Key Takeaways

Here are my key takeaways after using and researching the mic and the audio interface this week:

  • The mic uses a cardioid polar pattern.
  • The mic’s frequency response has a wide range.
  • 34mm condenser capsule
  • Mic comes with a custom fit shock mount and stand.
  • XLR output.
  • Great quality for the price.
  • The audio interface feels flimsy.
  • The audio interface is simple, yet has everything you need and more.

Those are my main takeaways, but to be honest I was blown away by the quality of both the mic and the audio mixer given their price.

The mic comes with a stand, an XLR cable, and a pop filter. The audio interface comes with two 3.5mm jacks and a USB 3.0 to USB type-C cable.

You can learn more about some of the specs of the audio interface on their website here and the mic on Amazon here.

Maonocaster E2 Audio Interface

Now that I gave you some of my key takeaways regarding the products, let’s talk about some pros and cons to help you decide if this mic is right for you.

Pros of the PM500 & Maonacaster E2

Here are some of the pros of the PM500 & Maonocaster E2:

  • Great sounding audio.
  • Audio interface is very affordable.
  • Audio interface can use Bluetooth.
  • Audio interface can be connected to a phone.
  • Microphone feels solid.
  • Audio interface can be connected to many different devices.

Great Sounding Audio

Audio is very important for streaming. In fact many will say that audio is more important than video in a stream.

With that being said, the PM500 does not disappoint. The quality of the microphone is excellent and is just as good if not better than my mic which is the Blue Yeti.

Audio Interface Is Very Affordable

Most audio interfaces/audio mixers will cost you a few hundred dollars. Now that is a lot of money to spend, especially if you are just beginning as a streamer.

However, you can get the Maonocaster E2 audio interface for less than $150! That to me is insane!

Audio interfaces give you more customization of your sound as a streamer. With these devices you can adjust the pitch of your voice, play certain sounds on stream, and more easily control the audio coming from your headphones.

It will be tough to find a product that can do all the Maonocaster E2 can do for the price that it is sold for. Trust me.

Audio Interface Can Use Bluetooth

One cool, yet underrated feature of the Maonocaster E2 is that it can connect to Bluetooth. Now this may not seem like much, but being able to connect wirelessly to different devices will make it easier for people to connect with your stream or podcast via Zoom or other means.

Now I don’t think many people will use this feature, but it is nice to know that it is an option if you ever did want to use it.

Audio Interface Can Be Connected To A Phone

If you are a mobile streamer then this audio interface would work great for you. You can actually connect your phone directly into the audio interface.

This means you can easily control the audio of your mobile stream all from this device. That is pretty cool if you ask me.

Microphone Feels Solid

One of the first things I noticed when I took this microphone out of the box was how solid it felt. It did not feel cheap. It felt like a quality mic.

Audio Interface Can Be Connected To Many Different Devices

The last thing I really liked about this audio interface is the number of ports it has allowing you to connect to multiple devices at once.

It has multiple ports for your headphones, mics, phones, and even instruments if you will be recording music. Regardless of what or how you will be streaming, this device has you covered.

Now that I have touched on some of the things I liked about the mic, let’s talk about a few things that could be better.

Cons of the PM500 & Maonacaster E2

Here are some of the cons of the PM500 & Maonocaster E2:

  • Audio interface seems flimsy.
  • The pop-filter could be better.

Audio Interface Seems Flimsy

Although I loved all that the Maonocaster E2 has to offer, I have to be honest and say that it does feel a bit flimsy.

It is made of plastic and does not have a metal frame or anything to protect it. My worry is that if this thing ever fell that it would crack and break.

I do love all the capabilities of the audio interface, but I just feel like they could have designed it a little better.

The Pop-Filter Could Be Better

Although the mic as a whole was awesome, I felt like the pop-filter that comes with the mic could be better.

Now this is not a huge deal, you can get a quality pop-filter for a few bucks on Amazon, I just wish that the one that it came with worked a little better and looked a little different.

So in the end, are these devices worth it?

Are The PM500 Mic & Maonacaster E2 Worth It?

If you are a streamer and are looking to upgrade your audio setup without spending too much money, then the PM500 mic and the Maonocaster audio interface are absolutely worth it. They are both quality products for their price.

I think that the mic and audio interface would be great for a streamer who feels like they are no longer a beginner streamer and want to make some upgrades to their stream.

If you are a streamer on a budget, and are looking for some quality additions to your stream, then I would recommend both the mic and the audio interface.
