How To Decide Which Game To Stream On Twitch

The two most important things to consider when deciding which game to stream are: will you like the game and will your community like the game? If you don’t like the game you are streaming, you will get burnt out easily and stop streaming. If your community doesn’t like the game, they won’t watch.

If you plan on streaming long term, you have to like the game you stream. When streamers don’t like the game they are playing it is so obvious to the viewer and the energy tends to be lower.

Also, the game has to match well with your community. For example, if you are known as a battle royale streamer, your viewers will expect battle royale games. If you start streaming fighting games one day your viewers may get turned off and decide not to watch your stream.

What Game Genre Is Best To Stream On Twitch?

There is no particular game genre that is best to stream on Twitch. The most important thing when choosing a genre is finding a genre that allows you to game and talk to your chat while you game.

What I mean by this is some genres are more intense than others and may cause you to be less engaged with your community. For example fighting games.

Fighting games tend to be very intense and require a lot of the streamers focus. All this focus takes them away from talking to and reading chat. All genres will require some level of focus, but if a certain genre is making it so you rarely engage with chat, it may be a good idea to switch.

What Games Should You Not Stream On Twitch?

You should not stream games on Twitch that have zero viewers. If zero people are watching a certain game on Twitch, that means there are zero people available to watch your stream. You want to stream games that have at least 30 viewers, especially when you are new to streaming.

Now once you have a community built, it is ok to stream games with zero viewers if you think your community will enjoy them. But keep in mind, these small games are only to strengthen your community and will not help your stream grow since they have so few viewers.
