If you are a Discord user you may have heard of Discord HypeSquads. But what exactly are Discord HypeSquads and how do you join them? I go over all that and more down below.

What Is The Discord Hypesquad?

Discord HypeSquad is an online community chosen to “rep Discord” and build hype around the platform. Those who join the HypeSquad are placed in 1 of 3 houses based on their answers to the HypeSquad Quiz. These 3 houses are: Brilliance, Bravery, and Balance.

I go over how to join the Discord HypeSquad further down, but for now let’s go over some of the rewards that come with being a part of the Discord HypeSquad.

What Do You Get From Discord Hypesquad?

Discord users who join the Discord HypeSquad receive access to the Discord HypeSquad newsletter, a unique profile badge that represents the house you are assigned to, and lastly the opportunity to participate in challenges against other HypeSquad houses.

Also, HypeSquad members who work at local events will receive even more benefits such as free merch, access to the exclusive HypeSquad Events Server, and much more.

Discord HypeSquad rewards members who generate more hype and attract more attention than other members. As a result, the gifts and goodies that you receive from Discord HypeSquad vary depending on how much publicity you are generating for the platform.

Besides all the gifts and goodies, it is also fulfilling for Discord HypeSquad members to share their passion for Discord with other users around the world.

Now that we have discussed all the benefits that come with being a member of the Discord HypeSquad, let’s talk about how you can join the Discord HypeSquad.

How To Join The Discord HypeSquad

To join Discord HypeSquad follow these steps:

1. Open Discord and go to “User Settings” by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left.
2. On the left hand side click on “HypeSquad”.
3. Click the “Join HypeSquad” button.
4. You will be given a simple, 5 question quiz.
5. Once you complete the quiz you will be placed in a HypeSquad House according to your answers.

Open Discord and go to “User Settings” by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left.

On the left hand side click on “HypeSquad”. Click the “Join HypeSquad” button.

You will be given a simple, 5 question quiz. Once you complete the quiz you will be placed in a HypeSquad House according to your answers.

Seems pretty simple right? Well yes it is, but there are still things you will need to keep in mind when joinging the Discord HypeSquad.

What Are The Requirements To Join Discord HypeSquad?

To join Discord Hypesquad you need to be at least 13 years old, have a Discord Account, and take a short quiz. If you want to be involved with some of the live events that Discords puts on with the HypeSquad then you will have to fill out a separate application at discord.com/hypesquad.

With that being said, Discord HypeSquad applications for their live events open and close regularly due to the high number of users who apply to enter the HypeSquad.

For example, at the time of writing this article, there’s a message on the Discord website saying that applications have been paused.

While it’s not a requirement to join the Discord HypeSquad, enthusiasm and belief in Discord are important for HypeSquad members.

After all, the more hype that you can generate for Discord, the better merch, giveaways, and gifts you will receive. It’s in your best interest to go the extra mile to ensure that you generate as much hype as possible. 

Is Discord HypeSquad On Mobile?

Discord HypeSquad is not included on the mobile app. However, you can access Discord Hypesquad through a web browser on your phone. All you have to do is log into your Discord account on the website, switch to desktop mode on your device, and then you’ll be able to access HypeSquad. 

And once you join the server dedicated to your HypeSquad House (Balance, Brilliance, or Bravery) you can then access that server from your mobile device just as you would with any other server.

It’s just the initial setup that is not available on mobile.

Is Discord Hypesquad Free?

Discord HypeSquad is completely free to join and participate in. It’s a marketing push by Discord in which members promote the company in exchange for merchandise and unique badges on their profile.

It’s really a win-win situation for both Discord and the user. Discord gets people to promote their platform and the user gets free merch and other cool items.

But now let’s say that you take the quiz and you get placed in a house that you do not like, can you go and change your HypeSquad house?

How To Change Your HypeSquad House On Discord

1. Open Discord and go to “User Settings” by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left.
2. On the left hand side click on “HypeSquad”.
3. Now click on the button that says “Take the test again”.
4. Take the test again and you will be assigned a house once you finish.

Now what if you are done with HypeSquads all together and want to leave the Discord HypeSquad, here is how you would do that.

How To Leave The Discord HypeSquad

1. Open Discord and go to “User Settings” by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left.
2. On the left hand side click on “HypeSquad”.
3. Click the button that says “Leave the HypeSquad” located near the bottom of the page.

Now once you click this button you will be removed from the Discord HypeSquad; however, you can always return later if you end up changing your mind.
