What Is Discord Wumpus? (EVERYTHING You Need To Know)

If you use Discord you may have heard of Wumpus. But who or what is Wumpus and how do you interact with them on Discord? I cover that and more below.

What Is Discord Wumpus?

Discord Wumpus is Discord’s official mascot. Wumpus appears on various Discord platforms and products, including the website, branding, and stickers. Although Wumpus resembles a pig, it isn’t one. In fact, what exactly Wumpus is is rather ambiguous.

If you have joined a new Discord server, or have had someone join your Discord server, then you have probably seen a tiny pig-like animal waving at you. This is Discord’s Wumpus.

Besides appearing on the platform itself, Wumpus is also seen in several of Discord’s Youtube videos, including a video where Discord sent Wumpus to outer space.

So now that you know what Discord Wumpus is, more or less, let’s talk about how you can interact with Wumpus on Discord.

How To Add Wumpus As A Friend On Discord

  1. Go to your “Direct Messages” on Discord and then click “Add Friend”
  2. Type “Wumpus#0001” in the search bar (without quotation marks)
  3. Finally click “Send Friend Request”
  4. A friend request will be sent to Wumpus

Adding Wumpus as a friend on Discord is the same as adding any other friend. And just like adding other friends on Discord, make sure you type the name correctly and include the # and numbers at the end.

Having Wumpus as a friend on Discord is just a neat little trick on Discord; however, it’s unclear if Wumpus even accepts friend requests.

I sent Wumpus a friend request and have still not gotten a reply. It just says that my friend request is outgoing. If this changes I will update you.

So besides having Wumpus as a friend, is there a Wumpus server you can hang out in?

Does Discord Wumpus Have A Server?

There is no official Discord Wumpus server. There are several servers dedicated to Wumpus that can be found on websites like disboard.org and discord.me, but these servers are created by fans of the Wumpus mascot and they are not connected to Discord in any way.

If you really like Discord and Discord Wumpus then these servers are cool to join. These types of servers usually involve great discussions about Discord, as well as cool convos about the amazing Wumpus.

Apart from questions about a Wumpus server, many Discord users have also wondered if there is a Wumpus bot.

Is There A Wumpus Bot?

There is no official Wumpus bot. Although there are several bots available on Discord named Wumpus, none of these bots are very popular and none of these bots are related to Wumpus, Discord’s mascot.

You can view some of these Wumpus bots on top.gg, but like I said these bots don’t really have anything to do with Wumpus. They are more just playing off of the name Wumpus.

Now that I have talked about how you can connect with Wumpus and Wumpus lovers, let’s answer some other commonly asked question about Wumpus.

What Animal Is Wumpus On Discord?

It is unknown what type of animal Wumpus is. Many Discord users speculated in the past that Wumpus is a pig; however, in a tweet on August 23rd, 2017 Discord jokingly clarified that Wumpus “IS NO PIG”. Discord themselves have never stated exactly what type of animal Wumpus is.

So is Wumpus a pig? Is it an elephant? Is it even an animal? I guess nobody will ever know, but this uncertainty is what leads to the lure and mystery of Wumpus.

But how about that Discord logo? Is that Wumpus or is that something else entirely?

Is The Discord Logo Wumpus?

The Discord logo is Cyde, and not Wumpus. Wumpus is Discord’s mascot, but Wumpus does not appear on Discord’s official logo. Furthermore, the Discord logo isn’t an animal at all as Cyde is some type of robot.

I asked Discord’s support exactly who is on their logo, and the reply was as follows:

“…So our logo is actually Cyde, not Wumpus. You can learn more about the logo here: https://discord.com/branding…”

Here’s a screenshot of the entire reply:

If you are familiar with Discord, you will know that Discord actually has several characters / mascots associated with the brand.

For example, besides Wumpus and Cyde, they also have Nelly. Nelly is a cute robot looking dog that appears in various places on the platform.

So what exactly is the point of all these different characters like Wumpus, Cyde, and Nelly?

What Is The Point Of Discord Wumpus?

Discord Wumpus is a neat character that Discord uses to engage with their community. It is their mascot and Discord users love Wumpus.

For any company or platform branding is important. Branding helps to distinguish one platform from another. With that being said, Wumpus is a great branding tool.

Not only is the mascot well-liked because of how cute it is, it is also talked about in various Discord communities because nobody knows what it is.

It is just this cute little pig that waves at people when they join a server.

Now to wrap things up, did you know that there is actually Wumpus merch and a Wumpus plush doll?

Where To Get A Discord Wumpus Plush Doll?

You can get a Discord Wumpus plush doll on discordmerch.com. Besides Wumpus plush dolls, Discord also has merch dedicated to the platform such as t-shirts, hoodies, and hats.

If you are passionate about Discord you should definitely check out their merch shop. They have some awesome merch and buying from them also helps to support the platform.

I hope I was able to help you better know who Wumpus is and why they are so important to the Discord platform.
