Can Twitch Streamers Stream On Facebook

With Facebook Gaming becoming an increasingly popular live streaming platform, many Twitch streamers have begun to wonder if they are allowed to stream on both Twitch and Facebook Gaming. I cover that and more down below.

Can Twitch Streamers Stream On Facebook

Twitch streamers are allowed to stream on Facebook as long as they are not Twitch affiliates. Streamers who are not Twitch affiliates can stream to both Twitch and Facebook simultaneously without consequence. Facebook has no restrictions for streamers streaming on other platforms at this time.

If you are not a Twitch affiliate then you have nothing to worry about. You can stream to Twitch, Facebook or any other platform you want to all at the same time.

Streaming to multiple platforms at once is called multi-streaming and can be a great way to expand your reach as a streamer. Check out my article here if you want to know how to multi-stream as well as some of the pros and cons.

Sharing your social media accounts on Twitch is another great way to extend your reach and I go over how to do that in this video here:

But if you are already a Twitch affiliate, or you are about to become one, then see below so you know what the rule is for streaming on other platforms as a Twitch affiliate.

Can Twitch Affiliates Stream On Facebook?

Twitch affiliates can stream on both Twitch and Facebook, they just can’t stream on the two platforms simultaneously. What this means is that if you are a Twitch affiliate you can stream on Twitch, then end your stream and start an entirely new stream on Facebook free of consequences.

Twitch just doesn’t want you broadcasting your Twitch streams to other platforms while you are live on Twitch. In fact, in the Twitch affiliate agreement they mention that you must wait 24 hours after a stream to share your Twitch content.

After this 24 hour window you are free to share portions of your live stream wherever you want; however, I have rarely seen this rule followed and have never seen Twitch enforce this rule either.

For these reasons and others many streamers lately have been contemplating if being a Twitch affiliate is even worth it these days.

I go into some of the pros and cons of being a Twitch affiliate in this article here. I recommend you check it out if you are on the fence about joining the Twitch affiliate program.

And if you decide you don’t want to be an affiliate then check out the video below for ways to make money on Twitch without being an affiliate.

Now that we have talked about regular Twitch streamers and affiliates, let’s talk about what the rules are regarding multi-streaming and Twitch partners.

Can Twitch Partners Stream On Facebook?

Every Twitch partner contract is unique and so whether or not a Twitch partner can stream on Facebook will depend on what is agreed upon in the contract. However, when streamers become Twitch partners they typically agree to stream exclusively on Twitch.

As you may know Twitch partnership agreements are kept private and so we don’t know a whole lot about what is actually agreed upon in these contracts.

In rare circumstances where a streamer has a large audience on Facebook, and only uses Twitch to live stream, Twitch may grant them permission to do a certain amount of Facebook live streams.

But again this is rare as Twitch tries to keep a lot of their bigger streamers streaming on Twitch and Twitch only.

Can Facebook Streamers Stream On Twitch?

There are no restrictions for Facebook Streamers streaming on Twitch. In fact, many Facebook Streamers stream on Twitch to take advantage of Twitch’s large audience. However, major Facebook streamers who have signed contracts with Facebook may be required to stream exclusively on Facebook.

But major Facebook streamers not being able to stream elsewhere is just speculation on my part. Some of these major Facebook streamers who have signed contracts may indeed be able to stream on Twitch and they just choose not to.

As far as other Facebook streamers streaming on Twitch there is no restriction. This has caused several streamers to actually leave the Twitch affiliate program so they can stream on both Facebook and Twitch.

I compare streaming on both Facebook and Twitch in this article here. Check it out if you are debating on which platform is the right fit for you.

In my opinion, if you are not going to join the Twitch affiliate program then streaming on both Twitch and Facebook at the same time is a no brainer.

Multi-streaming allows you to stream to Twitch and Facebook at the same time. This allows you to potentially reach twice the amount of people from your one stream.

If you don’t multi-stream that means you will have to streams on both Twitch and Facebook which will take more time and effort on your end. Why not just knock them both out at once right?

If you are interested in multi-streaming then you want to consider getting Streamlabs Prime. Streamlabs Prime allows you to multi-stream and is super easy to set up and use. You can check Streamlabs Prime out here.

Regardless of if you do choose to multi-stream or not, it is still a good idea to produce content on multiple platforms in order to expand your reach.

And you can easily link your Twitch accounts to other social media accounts to make sharing content to other platforms even easier.

Can Twitch Streamers Play With Facebook Streamers?

Twitch streamers can stream themselves playing with Facebook streamers as long as that Facebook streamer is not banned from Twitch. Twitch streamers are not allowed to stream themselves playing with people who are banned from Twitch, but they can play off stream together.

This is true regardless of if the Twitch streamer is an affiliate, partner or just a regular Twitch streamer, you can stream yourself playing with anyone who is not banned on Twitch.

Can You Stream To Twitch And Facebook At The Same Time?

As long as you are not a Twitch affiliate you can stream to both Twitch and Facebook at the same time. Twitch affiliates are not allowed to stream to Twitch and Facebook simultaneously. Facebook streamers or content creators however are under no such restrictions.

I know I mentioned this above already, but I just wanted to point it out again.

Often times those who stream on Twitch feel like they can’t stream anywhere else and this is just not the case. There are certain restrictions as an affiliate, but you are not forbidden entirely from other platforms.

And some people use the two platforms for different things. Maybe you stream video games on Twitch and then have nightly fitness discussions on Facebook.

The choice is yours. Just remember to diversify your content not only to extend your reach, but also to be prepared in case there is ever a major change on the platform that you stream on.
