How To Delete Twitch Clips? | Simple Guide

Twitch clips are great for user engagement and for assisting you in creating content to be used on other platforms. But what if you no longer want a certain clip; how do you delete it? I cover that and more below so keep reading.

How To Delete A Twitch Clip

  1. Click on your profile icon.
  2. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.
  3. On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”.
  4. Click on the clip you want to delete.
  5. A new window will appear. Click the trashcan icon at the top left of it.
  6. Confirm you want to delete that clip.
  7. Your clip is now deleted.

Here are some screenshots that go into more detail about deleting Twitch clips.

Click on your profile icon. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.

Profile Icon > Creator Dashboard

On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”. Click on the clip you want to delete.

Content > Clips

A new window will appear. Click the trashcan icon at the top left of it.

Trashcan Icon

Confirm you want to delete that clip.

Delete Button

Your clip is now deleted.

Clip Deletion Confirmation

Keep in mind that once you delete a clip it is gone for good. There is no way to recover it and so unless you have it downloaded or saved somewhere like an external hard drive (like this one on Amazon), it is gone for good.

That’s why I always recommend that streamers who want to create content on other platforms like Youtube or TikTok get an external hard drive to save some of their footage so it is saved and doesn’t slow down your computer.

Now this method of deleting clips works great if you only want to delete 1 or 2 clips, but what if you want to delete a bunch of clips from your channel at once. What’s the quickest way to do this?

How To Delete More Than One Twitch Clip At A Time

  1. Click on your profile icon.
  2. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.
  3. On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”.
  4. Click on the check boxes of the clips you want to delete.
  5. Click “Delete Selected” near the top.
  6. Confirm you want to delete those clips.
  7. Your selected clips are now deleted.

The screenshots below provide greater detail on how to delete multiple clips.

Click on your profile icon. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.

Profile Icon > Creator Dashboard

On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”.

Content > Clips

Click on the little boxes of the clips you want to delete.

Boxes Checked

Click “Delete Selected” near the top.

Delete Selected

This is the best way to delete multiple clips at once. Maybe someone clipped too many times during your stream, or you clipped a few things on accident, this is the fastest way to get rid of those clips.

Now if you decide you don’t want any of your Twitch clips anymore, and just want to delete all of them all together, here is how you would do that.

How To Delete All Of Your Twitch Clips At Once

  1. Click on your profile icon.
  2. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.
  3. On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”.
  4. Click on the check box at the top of your clips next to “Info” to select all your clips.
  5. Click “Delete Selected” near the top.
  6. Confirm you want to delete those clips.

Once you confirm the clips will be deleted.

Here are some screenshots to help provide more detail.

Click on your profile icon. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.

Profile Icon > Creator Dashboard

On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”.

Content > Clips

Click on the check box at the top of your clips next to “Info” to select all your clips.

Check Box

Click “Delete Selected” near the top.

Delete Selected Button

One thing I want to point out is that the check box you click to select all the clips did not work every time for me.

When I was using the check box to select all the clips there were times where it would only select the clips that appeared on my screen.

So with this being said, you may have to scroll down and click that box several times in order to make sure all of your clips are selected.

Also, deleting all your clips at once is a very bold move. Once you delete them they are gone and you will be missing all of that content from your Twitch channel.

If you do choose to delete all of your Twitch clips at once make sure it is for a good reason because that is a lot of content that you will never have again. Just my word of caution to you.

How To Delete Clips Your Followers Or Viewers Create

  1. Click on your profile icon.
  2. Now click “Creator Dashboard”.
  3. On the left side click “Content” then click “Clips”.
  4. Click “Clips of My Channel” At The Top.
  5. Click on the clip you want to delete.
  6. A new window will appear. Click the trashcan icon at the top left of it.
  7. Confirm you want to delete the clip.

Once confirmed, the clip will be deleted.

Click on your profile icon. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.

Profile Icon > Creator Dashboard

On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Clips”.

Content > Clips

Click “Clips of My Channel” At The Top. Click on the clip you want to delete.

A new window will appear. Click the trashcan icon at the top left of it.

Trashcan Icon

Confirm you want to delete that clip.

Delete Button

Your clip is now deleted.

Clip Deletion Confirmation

This is great if one of your viewers clipped something that you didn’t want to be clipped; however, what if your viewers keep abusing the clip feature then what?

How To Change Who Can Clip On Your Twitch Channel

  1. Click on your profile icon.
  2. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.
  3. On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Settings” then “Stream”.
  4. Scroll down to “Clip Settings” and adjust who can clip.
  5. Your settings are saved automatically.

Click on your profile icon. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.

Profile Icon > Creator Dashboard

On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Settings” then “Stream”.

Settings > Stream

Scroll down to “Clip Settings” and adjust who can clip.

Adjust Who Can Clip

Make sure you have clips enabled on your channel or you will not be able to adjust this setting for your channel.

When adjusting who can clip on your channel you can set it to followers-only or subscribers-only. You can also adjust how long a person must be following in order for them to clip something on your channel.

If you are a small streamer it’s a good idea to leave these turned off so that way anyone is allowed to clip on your channel. Clipping is great for user engagement and creates content on your Twitch channel.

However, if someone begins to abuse the clipping feature on your channel then it may be a good idea to limit who can clip on your channel or to disable clipping entirely.

Here is how this is done.

How To Disable Twitch Clips On Your Channel

  1. Click on your profile icon.
  2. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.
  3. On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Settings” then “Stream”.
  4. Scroll down to “Clip Settings” and toggle off “Enable Clips”
  5. Clip creation will now be disabled on your channel.

Click on your profile icon. Now click on “Creator Dashboard”.

Profile Icon > Creator Dashboard

On the left side click on “Content” then click on “Settings” then “Stream”.

Settings > Stream

Scroll down to “Clip Settings” and toggle off “Enable Clips”

Enable Clips

Again, I think that this feature should only be disabled if people are abusing clips on your channel. Other than that clips are great for creating content that stays on your Twitch channel.

Now to finish up, let’s go over some commonly asked questions regarding Twitch clips.

Can You Hide A Twitch Clip?

There is no way to hide a Twitch clip. If you don’t want others to see a clip on your channel the only way to prevent them from doing so is by deleting it. You can hide highlights and vods, but not clips.

Do Twitch Clips Expire?

Twitch clips never expire unless the streamer deletes the clip or the user who created the clip deletes the clip. Once a user clips something on your channel it is there to stay.

This is one of the similarities that Twitch clips have with Twitch highlights. If you want to know some of the differences between Twitch clips and highlights then check out my article here.

Why Do Twitch Streamers Delete Their Twitch Clips?

Streamers may choose to delete clips off their channel if the clip has violated DMCA, if something that happened in the clip is against Twitch’s TOS, if the clip paints the streamer in a bad light or if the person who made the clip was abusing the clip feature at the time.

Of course, a streamer may choose to delete a clip for any reason they want to, it’s just that the reasons I mentioned above are the most common.

Recently, Twitch cracked down on users streaming copyrighted material on their platform and began to take DMCA claims much more seriously.

This caused many streamers to go back and delete tons of their old clips and highlights that contained copyrighted music or videos to avoid any legal issues.

Again, just don’t do anything that is against Twitch’s guidelines and you won’t have to worry about deleting any content from off your channel.

👋 Hey There, I'm Eric!

Since 2018, I've been making streams come true.

I like gaming, streaming and watching other people stream. I created this website to help streamers, viewers, and gamers answer questions they have regarding live streaming, gaming, and PCs. I am a Twitch affiliate and currently stream on Twitch 3 days a week. I also have a Youtube channel where I make videos about streaming. I hope you find my content helpful. Feel free to stop by one of my streams to say hi.
