If you have ever been on a Discord call then you know that ending the call is not always straight forward. In this article I will show you how to end a Discord call so you don’t have to worry if you are still on or not.

How To End A Call On Discord

1. While in a Discord call, click on the phone icon with an “X” above it located near the bottom of your screen.
2. You will be disconnected from the call and the other users in the call will no longer be able to hear you.
3. However, in order for the call to end entirely, all users must disconnect as well.

You can also end a Discord call by going into the messages between you and the other users and clicking on the red phone button with an “X” above it.

Again, this will also disconnect you from the call, but not end the call. In order for the call to end all users must disconnect from the call.

You will know when you have ended a call if you hear a beep. This is Discord letting you know that either you, or someone else has left the call.

Besides the beep, Discord also sends a message in the messages between you and the other users letting you know how long the call lasted. This is another sign that the call has ended.

If you are on mobile, here are the steps you will need to take to end your call.

How To End A Call On Discord Mobile

1. Go into your Direct Messages On Discord and select the user with whom you are on a call with.
2. Click on the red phone button with an “X” above it.
3. You will now be disconnected from the Discord call.
4. Once the other users disconnect from the call, the call will end.

Even though the call will still continue even after you left, nobody will be able to hear you once you disconnect from the call.

Also, if you disconnect on accident, you can still re-join as long as the call is still going. Now if you are having issues ending a Discord call, here is what you need to do.

What To Do If A Discord Call Won’t End?

If you have ended a Discord call, but the call does not disconnect, you need to log out of Discord and wait at least 2 minutes before logging back in. Once you log back in, the call will be ended.

Logging out of Discord while you are in a call will automatically disconnect you from a Discord call. If you log back in and you notice that you are still in the same call, try these other fixes below.

Restart Your Device

If logging out of Discord didn’t work, you’ll want to restart your entire device while you are logged out of Discord.

Regardless of if you are on PC, mobile, or anything else log out of Discord, restart your device, and then log back in and see if the call is still going.

If it has ended, perfect you are good to go. If not, move onto the next step.

Check For Errors On Twitter

Sometimes Discord itself has errors and bugs on the platform. If you have done the previous two steps, and are still unable to end a call, then check Discord’s Twitter page and make sure everything is ok.

Discord is usually pretty good about informing users about issues occurring on the platform. If you see this is a common problem, you may just have to wait it out until Discord fixes the problem.

Lastly, if you have tried everything above and your call still won’t end, then reach out to Discord support. I go over reaching out to Discord support in this article here if you need help.

Luckily, Discord support is usually pretty good and they should reach back out to you in 1-2 business days.

Now let me go overt a few other commonly asked questions in relation to Discord calls.

Do Discord Calls End Automatically?

If you are inactive in a Discord call for 5 minutes, or if you are alone in a Discord call for 5 minutes, Discord will end the call automatically. Once the call is ended, Discord’s Clyde bot will send you a message letting you know they have disconnected you from the call.

How Long Can A Discord Call Last?

There is no set time limit as to how long a Discord call can last; however, once users on a call have been inactive for 5 minutes Discord will automatically end the call. Also, if there is only one user in a call, Discord will end the call after 5 minutes as well.

So in theory a Discord call could last forever, but in reality it’s much harder than it seems to make a call last a long time.

Are Discord Calls Free?

Discord calls are completely free; however, they do use data. This means that although you will not have to pay to participate in calls on Discord, you still have to pay for the data you are using to make the calls. The rate you pay for data usage will vary between phone plans and internet providers.

All things considered, this is actually a great deal because many conference calling platforms such as Zoom only allow you a certain amount of time per call before you have to pay.

That’s on top of the data you are paying for from your phone/internet provider. But if you can get free Wi-Fi somewhere then you won’t be paying anything to make calls on Discord.

For this reason Discord has become more attractive to people outside of gaming who are trying to save money on their video conferencing calls.
