Shroud Setup [2023] | Streaming, Gaming, And PC Build

Shroud is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch and is considered one of the best FPS players of all time. Given his success, many people wonder what equipment he uses to be as good as he is.

Below I go over Shroud’s latest gaming/streaming setup, from monitors to chairs, so you can see what makes him so great at both streaming and gaming.

Now that you know what equipment Shroud uses, let’s talk more about how and why Shroud uses the equipment that he does.

What Monitor Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses 2 Alienware AW2721D Monitors, one to game on and the other to read chat. Shroud is often considered one of the best FPS players of all time and for this reason he uses a very nice, high tech monitor to game on.

This Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor is one of the most OP gaming monitors on the market. It has a 240Hz refresh rate, full NVIDIA G-SYNC ULTIMATE capabilities, and an incredible true 1ms response time.

I really like this monitor for a number of reasons. First of all, it has 1440p resolution, which is the sweet spot in gaming right now.

With this monitor, you get an amazing resolution without sacrificing pixel density or refresh rate (240Hz).

The best thing, though, is how this monitor looks. The monitor is all-white in the back with blue LED logos. If you have a white desk or setup, then this monitor looks amazing and will complement your rig very nicely.

What Mouse Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Logitech G303 Wireless Shroud Edition gaming mouse. This mouse was designed specifically for Shroud and has his name printed on the top of it. It was released on November 16th, 2021 and Shroud was heavily involved in the creation of it.

The mouse is squarely in the lightweight category, weighing in at just 75 grams. If you’re into FPS games, or you like high performance gaming peripherals, then this mouse is a great option.

Not only does it have great specs, owing to its HERO 25K sensor, but it also looks very sleek.

The design was developed together with Shroud himself, and it has some neat extras. For example, the top of the mouse has a “LOGITECH G x SHROUD” logo, which lends the mouse a premium feel.

The mouse also has oversized feet, which help the mouse glide smoothly and increase your precision while gaming.

What Mouse Pad Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Logitech G G840 XL – Shroud Edition mouse pad. The mousepad has the blue Logitech G logo in one corner, the SHROUD emblem in another corner, and some minimalist designs which are meant to complement Shroud’s gaming mouse from Logitech.

Not only does this mouse pad look great, but it also feels great. The mouse pad has “medium friction”, which provides just enough feedback for you to feel the movements of your mouse while gaming.

This feedback is said to improve your muscle memory, as your body becomes accustomed to how movements of the mouse “feel”.

This mouse pad is nearly 3 feet across, meaning it’s in the oversized category. It is designed for you to place your keyboard on the mouse pad, as well as your mouse.

This is the perfect size if you enjoy having your keyboard and mouse together on the same level and the giant size of this mouse pad gives you plenty of room for large movements in a game.

What Keyboard Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Logitech G Pro X Shroud Edition gaming keyboard. This keyboard was made in collaboration with Shroud and features his name and logo at the top. The keyboard is compact which makes it easy to travel with.

The keyboard has GX Red Linear Switches which were handpicked by Shroud himself. These switches are known for their smoothness and responsiveness, which is great for games where you are repeatedly tapping the same key in rapid succession.

The design looks really epic, and I like how the logo and minimalist artwork connect it visually to the other Shroud peripherals from Logitech G.

The only critique I have is that the keyboard has a micro-USB connection, whereas the mouse in this series has a USB-C connection. Maybe I’m being picky here, but I think it would be nice if both peripherals used USB-C.

What Headset Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Logitech G PRO X Wireless Lightspeed – Shroud Edition headset. Like the keyboard, mouse, and mouse pad in this series, the headset is designed with the Shroud logo and matching artwork. The headset is the final peripheral in the 4-part Shroud collab with Logitech G.

Although this headset is on the pricey side, it’s definitely a premium product. For starters, the headset has a range of nearly 50ft and a 20+hr battery life.

Its padding is memory foam wrapped in premium leatherette and feels very comfy on the ears. It even comes with an extra pair of ear cups.

The headset has the same specs and features that make the Logitech G PRO X headset so popular, the only difference is the shroud logo and design.

If you want the functionality, quality, and comfort of the Logitech G PRO X, and you’re a Shroud fan, then this is the perfect headset for you.

What Microphone Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Blue Mouse Microphone which he connects to the Scarlett 2i2 Audio Mixer and then attaches to a Rode PSA1 Boom Arm. The Blue Mouse is considered one of the best microphones offered by Blue.

The Blue Mouse Microphone is an XLR cardioid condenser microphone. It is known for its cool design and high-quality materials.

It has a round microphone capsule atop the microphone which can swivel and adapt to a variety of setup requirements.

This microphone is known for its capability to capture low-frequency audio, like drums or low-sounding instruments. For streaming or broadcasting, the microphone captures the richness of the voice and conveys very subtle audio details.

This could be why Shroud’s voice sounds as good as it does on stream. If you’re serious about voiceovers, podcasting, or streaming, then this is a fantastic choice.

And even more, the Rode PSA1 Boom Arm is often considered the best boom arm for streamers because of how easy it is to maneuver. I have one myself and it is awesome.

What Camera Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Sony Alpha a6000 camera with a Sony Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens. To use this camera on stream he connects the camera to his PC using an Elgato Cam Link 4K and then powers his camera with a dummy camera battery.

This camera is a very popular crop-sensor mirrorless camera from Sony. It’s a popular choice for streamers, YouTubers, and vloggers because it is so easy to transport and produces great video quality.

I use a Sony Alpha mirrorless camera for my streams, and the quality is amazing. With the right lens, I’ve found that the Sony Alpha crop sensor in this camera is very capable of producing amazing video, even in indoor settings.

What I really like about the Sony Alpha cameras is that they are compatible with Sony E-Mount lenses, which are easy to find (both new and used) and produce great results.

To use this camera in a stream, you’ll need to connect it to a capture card via the micro HDMI port on the camera.

The battery life on this camera isn’t great, though, so I recommend you purchase a plug-in battery to use while streaming like the one I linked above.

What PC Case Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Maingear Vybe PC Case. This PC case is a premium PC case perfect for building your dream rig. The case is known for being spacious, and includes great features like RGB LED lighting and a tempered glass side panel.

The case looks great, but it’s definitely on the minimal side. It has a single logo on the front panel and a single fan in the back. It also has magnetic ventilation grilles, which help manage dust.

What Mother Board Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the ASUS ROG Strix X570-I gaming motherboard. This motherboard has RGB lighting, PCIe 4.0 slots, dual M.2 heat sinks, and much more. The motherboard is compatible with AMD processors and pairs well with Ryzen CPUs from the 5000 series and up.

The two PCIe 4.0 slots for SSDs also give a nice speed boost to your SSD compared to basic SATA ports.

It has Bluetooth 5 and WIFI 6, a great audio chipset, and much more. Overall, this motherboard packs a ton of great features, and it’s an excellent choice if you’re building your own gaming rig.

What CPU Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Intel Core i9-12900k processor. This processor is currently the most powerful CPU on the market. It has a baseline speed of 3.2GHz and can reach up to 5.2GHz unlocked. While this processor technically has 16 physical cores, 8 of those are efficiency cores.

Efficiency cores have lower performance, but they are useful to offload background tasks from the performance cores, as efficiency cores consume less energy.

This architecture helps the processor use less power and achieve better resource management.

Despite its relatively high power consumption (and heat), this processor consistently benchmarks as one of the top processors on the market.

If you are planning on using your PC for CPU-intensive tasks, such as video encoding, then this processor is a wonderful choice.

What GPU Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Card. This graphics card is currently the most powerful graphics card available on the market and is used by many top streamers and gamers.

It is no wonder why Shroud has this graphics card in his rig given how intensely he games, but this graphics card does come with a hefty price tag which could turn away many casual gamers.

This graphics card boasts 24GB of GDDR6X RAM and can keep up with all of the most demanding AAA titles on the market. In fact, this card is so powerful that it can even run titles in 8K resolution and 60FPS.

If you have an unlimited budget, and you frequently perform GPU-intensive tasks such as 3D rendering or animation, then this is a great option.

What RAM Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the HyperX Predator RGB RAM. This RAM is a great choice for gaming rigs and can be purchased in various configurations up to 64GB (16GBx4). The RAM is DDR4 and HyperX claims it can reach speeds up to 4000MHz.

HyperX Predator RGB

The RAM has RGB lighting which can be customized to match your rig. It’s made by Kingston, which has a good reputation for its reliability and quality.

What Cooling Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooling system. This cooling system is great at keeping your CPU and gaming rig running at optimal temperatures. And when you have a gaming rig as sophisticated as Shrouds, a cooling system is a must.

Cooler Master Hyper 212

The unit itself is made from high quality aluminum, which gives it a nice aesthetic. Even its fan blades are coated in nickel, so nothing about the cooler feels plasticky or cheap.

The Cooler Master Hyper is an air cooler, so it works by moving hot air away from your CPU while replacing it with cooler air.

The cooling unit has customizable RGB lighting, so you can control the lighting to match the design of your rig.

What Chair Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Herman Miller Embody Chair. This chair is as luxurious as gaming/office chairs come and typically sells for around $2,000. It is a popular chair amongst major streamers.

So, is it worth it? If you’re a professional streamer, then the answer may be yes. The chair is customizable in nearly every way, allowing you to adjust the seat depth, arms, chair height, backrest, and more.

If you can’t find a comfortable chair for gaming, then you may want to give this chair a try. You can customize it to fit your back perfectly, and potentially save yourself from back pain.

What Desk Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the Series L Adjustable Height Corner Desk, Natural Oak with Charcoal Base. This desk is high quality and very pricey.

What Lighting Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses an Elgato Key Light to light his face while he streams. However, unlike most streamers, he only uses on Key Light rather than 2.

What Streaming Software Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses the OBS streaming software to stream. He also uses the StreamElements bot to help moderate his chat and an Elgato Stream Deck to help him transition to different scenes while streaming.

What PC Does Shroud Use?

Shroud uses a custom built PC which includes a Maingear Vybe PC Case, ASUS ROG Strix X570-I gaming motherboard, Intel Core i9-12900k processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Card, HyperX Predator RGB RAM, and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooling system.

How Much Is Shroud’s PC & Setup Worth?

Shroud’s PC alone is worth an estimated $4,000. His PC and streaming setup combined is worth an estimated $14,000.

What Platform Does Shroud Stream On?

Shroud currently streams exclusively on Twitch. Shroud streamed for a short period on Mixer, but once Mixer shut down he returned to Twitch on August 11th, 2020 and has been streaming there ever since.

What Org Is Shroud A Part Of?

Shroud is a part of the Sentinals gaming org and plays on their Valorant roster. He joined the org on July 8th, 2022.

This list consists of Shroud’s current streaming/gaming setup. If I got something wrong, or if something has changed then reach out to me on my Twitter or on my Discord to let me know so that way I can update it.
