Best Animated Twitch Overlays (Free & Premium!)

Streamers who want to make their stream POP often add animated overlays and alerts. But where is the best place to go to find quality animated overlays for Twitch? Keep reading to find out.

Best Animated Twitch Overlays

  1. OWN3D.TV
  2. Visuals By Impulse (VBI)
  3. Hexeum
  4. Nerd or Die
  5. Placeit by Envato

The list above is based off the following categories which I find most useful when looking for animated overlays for your stream:

  • Quality – Quality of the animated overlays offered.
  • Price – How fair are the prices.
  • Setup – How easy is it to set the animated overlays up.
  • Selection – How many animated overlays does the website offer.

Keep reading to find out how each of these websites scored in the categories I mentioned and why they received the rankings that they did.

1. OWN3D.TV

Overall39/40
  • Largest selection of animated overlays
  • Tons of resources besides just overlays
  • Free overlays available for those who sign-up for the OWN3D Pro

For the best animated overlays, visit OWN3D.TV. They have the largest selection of quality, animated overlays of anyone out there.

Their prices are fair and setting them up is super easy. You can literally have a whole new stream design within minutes of purchasing an overlay.

Besides animated overlays, they also offer things like animated emotes and alerts. They literally have everything you could possibly want when re-designing your stream.

2. Visuals By Impulse (VBI)

Selection9
Overall37/40
  • Resources besides just overlays
  • Amazing quality
  • Limited free options available

Visuals By Impulse (VBI) has some incredible animated overlays that look amazing on stream. Besides animated overlays, they also have animated emotes, Youtube outros, and much more.

You will probably end up paying a bit more with VBI than you would with OWN3D.TV, but their quality is just as good and their overlays are just as easy to set up.

I like VBI and I know a lot of reputable streamers like them and recommend them. If you are searching for overlays, you should definitely check out VBI.

3. Hexeum

Selection8
Overall35/40
  • Resources besides just overlays
  • High quality designs
  • No animated emotes
  • No free animated overlays

Hexeum ranks #3 when it comes to animated overlays. Their quality is just as good as anyone on this list and they are super easy to set up.

However, what bumps Hexeum down to #3 is their price and selection. To get some of the better looking overlays you will have to spend around $30. This isn’t outrageous, but it is still more than you would pay elsewhere for similar quality.

Their selection is also small and they offer no free animated overlays. All their animated overlays must be purchased. On top of that, they don’t offer animated emotes or anything else like that.

But with all that being said, they still produce high quality overlays and I would recommend using them if you can’t find what you’re looking for elsewhere.

4. Nerd or Die

CategoryScore
Quality9

Setup10
Selection6
Overall34/40
  • High quality animated overlays
  • Smaller selection of overlays
  • Resources besides just overlays
  • No animated emotes

Nerd or Die is another well-known and well-respected stream designer. They have awesome animated overlays that can be added quickly to a stream.

Nerd or Die does not however offer animated emotes or anything like that. The only thing animated they have related to Twitch are their overlays. So if you want anything else animated you will have to look elsewhere.

Nerd or Die’s selection is also small, and I feel like they don’t have very many really nice animated overlays. They do have a few nice ones, but nothing compared to others higher on this list.

But all things considered, they are a brand you can trust and they did have some really high-quality animated overlays. They wouldn’t be my first choice for animated overlays, but I would definitely consider using them if I couldn’t find what I wanted elsewhere.

5. Placeit by Envato

Selection8
Overall32/40
  • Small selection of animated overlays
  • Resources besides just overlays
  • Requires you to customize parts of the template
  • Basic animated designs compared to others

Lastly, we have Placeit by Envato. What makes Envato so unique compared to the others on this list is that they offer overlay templates rather than pre-made, ready-to-go Twitch overlays.

What this means is that once you find an overlay you like you will have to customize the template to your liking by adjusting things like the wording, the positioning, the colors, etc.

Now adjusting these templates isn’t hard, it just might not be what you want to do. Also, given that you are working with templates, I feel like the designs are little more basic than others on this list.

It’s nice that you have more control over your overlays with Envato, but if you wanted something a little more fancier then you will want to go with something higher on this list for animated Twitch overlays.

Are Animated Overlays Worth It For Twitch?

Animated overlays are absolutely worth it for a Twitch stream because they stand out and make a stream look more professional. They are also more engaging and can help keep viewers entertained.

Think of the biggest streamers you know. I bet that most of them use animated overlays on their stream. They just look so much cooler.

And thankfully, with help from the websites listed above, you don’t have to be a professional graphics designer to have animated overlays on your stream.

You can simply purchase an animated overlay, upload it to your stream, and you are good to go. It’s really just that simple. I use animated overlays, but I wouldn’t be able to use them without the help from the websites I mentioned above.

👋 Hey There, I'm Eric!

Since 2018, I've been making streams come true.

I like gaming, streaming and watching other people stream. I created this website to help streamers, viewers, and gamers answer questions they have regarding live streaming, gaming, and PCs. I am a Twitch affiliate and currently stream on Twitch 3 days a week. I also have a Youtube channel where I make videos about streaming. I hope you find my content helpful. Feel free to stop by one of my streams to say hi.
