If you’ve sent a message on Discord and haven’t yet received a response, you may be wondering if you’re getting ignored. But is there any way to tell if someone has read your message on Discord?
Can You See If Someone Has Read Your Message On Discord?
You cannot see if someone has read your message on Discord. Discord won’t alert you when your message has been read nor is there any indication that a message has been seen or read.
Although the ability to seen when a message is read is a popular request by Discord users, Discord has yet to add the feature.
With that being said, there are some things you can check that can help you decide whether your message has been read or not.
For one, you can see if a person is online or not. If you have messaged someone who is online, and they have not replied to you after sometime, it may be safe to assume they are ignoring your messages.
To see what friends of yours are online, go to your friends list and then click “online”. This will display which of your friends are currently online.
Now to see which users in a server are online, go to the server and then look on the right side of the server. There you will find a list of the server members, as well as their online status.
Now keep in mind, some users may be online but have their status set to “Do Not Disturb”. In these cases a user is online, but they don’t want to be bothered.
This means that if you send a message to a person with this status they may not see your message since they are asking others not to bother them.
Besides checking for a persons’ online status, you can also make a reasonable assumption based on how long a person usually takes to reply to you.
If a person messages back and forth with you regularly, and they have not replied to your message after some time, you can reasonably assume they missed your message and you might want to follow-up.
But can you see if someone is ignoring you without having to spam them with messages?
How To Tell If Someone Is Ignoring You On Discord?
There is no definitive way to tell if someone is ignoring you on Discord. The platform doesn’t have read receipts, so you can’t be certain if another user has read your message or not. However, if a user is online when you send a message, and they don’t reply, they may be ignoring you.
Again there is no way of knowing for certain if you are being ignored on Discord, but if you have reached out several times with no response, you are probably being ignored.
And although you can’t see if another user has seen your messages, you can see when you sent your message to them which will help you decide if they are taking way too long to reply.
How To See When A Message Was Sent On Discord?
To see when a message was sent on Discord open up your messages (DMs) between you and another user. Next hover your mouse over a message and the time that the message was sent will be displayed to the left of the message.
This trick works in DMs, but it can also work in Discord servers as well. Now let’s go over some other frequently asked questions regarding messages on Discord.
If You Delete A Discord Message, Will The Recipient See It?
Once a Discord message is deleted it is removed from the message history and neither the person who sent the message nor the recipient can view the message anymore. However, since there is no way of knowing if a person reads a message or not, the recipient may have seen the message and just never replied.
In most cases, if you send a message and then delete it immediately after sending it the other user will have no knowledge that the message ever existed. Discord doesn’t track deleted messages.
But if you send a message, wait a little bit, and then delete the message then there is a good chance that the person did see the message but just never replied. Just be careful.
Can You See Who Has Viewed Your Discord Profile?
You can’t see who has viewed your Discord profile and other users are unable to see when you view their profiles either. Discord simply does not offer this feature.
Beyond profiles, Discord doesn’t even show you who looks at your server (if you have one). For this reason you can lurk and check out profiles and servers without anyone knowing.
But keep in mind, even though a server owner can not see who visits their server, if you do things like chat in the server then the server owner will see your messages and know you have been there.
Are There Plugins That Show You If Someone Read Your Discord Message?
There are currently no plugins available that are able to accurately tell you weather or not someone has read your Discord message. Although many plugins claim they have the capability to do so, this is simply just not true.
In fact, you should be careful about adding any plugins that say they can show you when a person has read your message.
Plugins that make outrageous claims such as this are often scams and are used to steal your personal information.
Don’t trust them and don’t use them. I know you may be desperate to see if someone has read your message, but plugins like this are just not worth the risk.
The ability to see when a message has been read on Discord, or read receipts as they are often referred to, is a popular requested feature on Discord.
Although this feature is not currently available on Discord, this may change in the future. For now it is up to you to make your best guess on whether or not a message has been read.
