Streaming is something that can be done anytime and anywhere. With that being said, why does it seem like so many streamers live in or are moving to Texas? Also, why do so many streamers seem to live together?
I’ll answer these questions down below.
Why Do Streamers Live In Texas?
Many streamers choose to live in Texas for two main reasons: no state income tax and a relatively low cost of living. Not having to pay income taxes can save a streamer a lot of money. Couple that with the low cost of living and you can understand why many streamers choose to live in Texas.
Now streamers who move to Texas will still be required to pay federal taxes, obviously, but no state taxes is a game changer.
For this reason many businesses are also moving to Texas to avoid having to pay state taxes. Not to mention a better quality of life for their employees.
In many ways, living in a place like Texas that has no state income taxes and a lower cost of living compared to most states makes sense for streamers.
Not having to stress about money as much allows them to focus on their streams more rather than having to make ends meet.
As someone who just recently moved out of California, I can tell you that your money goes a lot further outside of California than it does inside of California.
Don’t get me wrong I love California (I was born and raised in So Cal woop woop) but it can be really difficult to make a living there and still find time to pursue other passions.
Many streamers and Youtubers do still live in California this is true. I mean from the nice weather to the beautiful beaches can you blame them?
Also, many big companies and sponsors are still based in LA and so it makes sense as to why several content creators would still live in California, in particular LA.
But if you are not a big streamer yet, it may not make sense for you to spend all that extra money just to call California home.
Texas is a huge place and so whether you like living in a busy city, or prefer to live miles apart from your nearest neighbor, I am sure that you can find a place that works for you.
However, there is one city in Texas that is booming for techies and nerds like myself ????
Why Do Streamers Live In Austin, Texas?
Several streamers choose to live in Austin, TX for the same reasons they live in Texas the state; no state income tax and a relatively low cost of living. However, not only will living in Austin, TX save you money, it also continues to attract big tech companies like Apple and Google.
In fact, many tech companies are expanding or relocating entirely to Austin, Texas.
So what does this mean? Well it means that if you are a person that likes techie stuff like streaming, coding or programming then Austin could be a great place for you.
Many tech companies are beginning to question why they are paying millions in taxes and millions for buildings to be based in cities like New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. These questions have only increased with the recent Covid-19 outbreak that has everyone working remotely anyways.
Not only is it expensive for the owners of these companies to operate in these cities but it is expensive for their employees as well. The median home price in San Francisco is almost 1.3 MILIION! How can anyone afford to live in a place like that right?
In Austin however, because the cost of living is much lower, and since it already has a reputation of being super techie, you can find good quality employees and pay them much less.
I’m not saying you should pay them less, I am just saying these are the things that owners of these companies are thinking about these days.
With all that being said, if you are a streamer and enjoy being around techie internet people then Austin would be a great place for you to check out.
Although outside if the United States, Malta is a place that seems like more and more streamers are moving to. But why is this?
Why Do Streamers Live In Malta?
Many streamers who stream slots or other forms of online gambling choose to live in Malta because Malta has relatively fair laws regarding online gambling and has a low tax rate for casinos and others who earn money from gambling.
Online gambling continues to grow in popularity and so does the number of streamers who stream themselves gambling online.
For this reason these streamers choose to live in a country that makes it easier for them to gamble, stream and earn money from streaming and gambling.
Malta sounds like a fun place to live, but there are other places in the United States that seem to attract a lot of streamers.
Why Do Streamers Live In Florida?
Another state that streamers choose to move to is Florida. Florida also has no state income taxes which could end up saving a streamer tons of money, especially a big name streamer. No state income tax could save a streamer thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.
With warm weather and nice beaches Florida does seem like it wouldn’t be a bad place to live to be honest. But I do often hear the streamers who live in Florida complain about the internet so maybe there are some cons to Florida.
Another place with warm weather and nice beaches is California. In fact, you may have noticed that many streamers call LA their home. But why is this?
Why Do Streamers Live In LA?
Many streamers choose to live in LA because it makes working with celebrities and major companies that deal with entertainment and gaming much much easier. Rather than having to travel back and forth from LA, streamers choose to live in LA to make collaborating and networking easier.
As you may have noticed, streamers are becoming increasingly popular and have recently appeared in things such as music videos, commercials and even movies.
Having to constantly travel from LA to their home state or country could become expensive and time consuming and so many choose to just stay in LA so they don’t have to constantly travel.
This also makes collaborating with other brands and streamers much easier since the streamer doesn’t have to worry about making travel plans. They only have to plan out where to meet.
And making collaborations easier is what brings me to my next point.
Why Do Streamers Live Together?
Streamers live together for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is to collaborate and create content together. Another reason is that many of these content creators also live in California, which is very expensive to live in, and so living together helps to cut down on the living expenses.
Lastly, living together can help these streamers to keep each other motivated.
To touch on that last point, I remember years ago when I was just starting my own business, I came across a facebook group that was for people who were dedicated to their professions and wanted to live with other people who were also grinding to make their way to the top.
I felt like it was a little over the top for me personally, but I really respected the drive and determination of these individuals.
I think it is similar to the streamers who live together as well. Although they may be all loose and fun on stream, the truth there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to help these streamers get to where they are at.
They are truly dedicated to their craft and being around other like minded people only helps them to stay motivated.
Also, being around other content creators just makes it much easier to collab and create new content.
Rather than having to plan it all out, when to meet and what to shoot these content creators can literally just wake up and make these plans together while they eat breakfast. It can really just be that easy.
Having a house full of content creators has a ton of benefits and so it’s obvious why a lot of these streamers choose to live together. It’s a great way to improve at your craft and stay motivated as your work towards your goals.

Given the fact that you don’t have to pay state income taxes in Texas or FLorida, it is no wonder why streamers choose to move there.
Moving to these states could potentially save a streamer hundreds of thousands of dollars. Or maybe even a few thousand for a smaller streamer.
Austin Texas is also a great place to live if you are a techie type of person who is looking to save some money.
It is booming with new tech companies and is building quite an attractive tech community right in the middle of Texas. Well almost the middle. Texas is huge!
Lastly, living together with a few of your streaming buddies can be a great way to collab and to keep each other focused on your stream dreams!
Just remember, everything is bigger in Texas….I waited the whole time for that.
