How To Get BTTV And FFZ Emotes On Discord

One of the best things about Twitch are the awesome emotes that are used in chats across the platform; however, did you know you can get a lot of those emotes on Discord as well? I’ll show you how below.

How To Get BTTV Emotes On Discord

  1. Go to BetterTTV.com.
  2. Click the “Dashboard” tab at the top and then click on “Connections”.
  3. Choose the Discord server you want to link to your BTTV account and click “Continue”.
  4. Authorize BTTV to manage stickers and emojis on your Discord.
  5. Your BTTV and Discord are now connected.

Go to BetterTTV.com. Click the “Dashboard” tab at the top and then click on “Connections”.

Choose the Discord server you want to link to your BTTV account and click “Continue”.

Authorize BTTV to manage stickers and emojis on your Discord.

Your BTTV and Discord are now connected.

Now that you have connected your BTTV account with your Discord account there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

First, you won’t be able to use any of your animated BTTV emotes on Discord unless you get Discord Nitro. You will only be able to use the static BTTV emotes.

Next, in order for your emotes to work in chat you will need to add a colon mark at the beginning and end of the name of the emote when typing it in chat.

For example, if you want to use the PogU emote you would have to type in “:PogU:” (without the quotation marks) in chat and then press enter in order for the emote to appear.

PogU Emote

This is different from Twitch or other streaming platforms where all you need to do is type in the name of the emote and it will appear in chat.

You could also click on the emoji button and select an emote from your list to use, but this way is less common because it takes longer to do.

Also, you can only use your BTTV emotes on the Discord server that is linked to you BTTV account. This means you will not be able to use your BTTV emotes in DMs or on other servers, unless you have Discord Nitro.

And lastly, in order to use BTTV and therefore link it to your Discord you will have to have a Twitch account. You don’t have to necessarily link your Twitch to your Discord, but it is a good idea to do so. It’s quick and easy.

Here is how you would link your Twitch account to your Discord.

How To Link Your Discord To Your Twitch

  1. Open your Discord and go to your settings by clicking the cog wheel in the bottom left.
  2. Now click on “Connections”.
  3. Click on the Twitch icon.
  4. Follow the steps to connect the accounts.
  5. Your Twitch and Discord are now connected.

Here are some screen shots that go into more detail:

Open your Discord and go to your settings by clicking the cog wheel in the bottom left.

Settings (Cog Wheel)

Now click on “Connections”. Click on the Twitch icon. Follow the steps to connect the accounts.

Connections > Twitch Icon

Your Twitch and Discord are now connected.

If you are unable to access your connections section it may be because you have streamer mode enabled. To disable streamer mode click on “Streamer Mode” in your settings then toggle it off.

Streamer Mode > Toggled Off

Streamer mode helps those who stream on Discord to protect some of their sensitive information on the platform. When this is enabled you may not have access to everything on Discord, including the “Connections” section.

Why Link BTTV And Twitch To Your Discord?

Linking your BTTV and your Twitch account to Discord allows for your supporters to use your emotes on Discord. Being able to use your emotes in Discord is fun and helps to strengthen the community you have established.

As a streamer your goal is not just to stream, but to build a community. Having unique emotes for your channel is one great way of doing this.

Linking your Twitch to your Discord also allows you to stay in touch with your community when you are not live.

While you are not live you could pop in your Discord and talk to your community, share funny memes, get their opinions on things, etc., etc.

Another thing that is great about linking your Discord to your Twitch is that you can set up a bot to automatically message your entire server every time you go live.

Go Live Notification

As you know, it’s important to let your viewers know when you will be going live and sadly not everyone who follows you on Twitch will see your go live notifications every time.

However, if you send out a go live notification on Twitch, post that you are going live on Twitter and have your bot message everyone on your Discord server when you go live then the chances of your viewers seeing these messages go way up.

Can You Connect FFZ To Discord

There is no option to connect FFZ to Discord at this time; however, several of the emotes available on FFZ are also available on BTTV. So if you want to use a specific emote on Discord you could probably just find it on BTTV and then link your BTTV to your Discord server.

I go over how to link your BTTV account to your Discord server above and so if you want to know how to do that just scroll up.
